I am a 19yr old female I just got my gastric sleeve done last Thursday so 8 days ago . I was 223 on the day of surgery as of today I am 209. I have a few questions if any one can answer them it would be great :) . I wanted to know when can I go to gym and work out or maybe just take Zumba and also when may I lay on my stomach again :/ . I only have one incision , it's inside my belly button so you can't even see it . It's pretty much closed now and no stitches . Also at night I get really bad gasses or acid I'm not sure what it is it's just a very uncomfortable painful air that comes up and that's it I don't burp nothing but it happens a lot when I'm sleeping :/

Have you talked to your doctor to see when you can do zumba I know most doctors do recommend that you walk a lot...try just walking and maybe once you go back to the doctor they can tell you...good luck on your journey

Get really good at walking before you think about gym or class aerobic stuff. Most doctors will save 6 weeks as there is a lot of healing that needs to occur before then.

When is your next follow up with your surgeon? I would think he/she would give you the go ahead to exercise when you are ready. Discuss the acid issues then, too, or call.

Nana94 that is right around the corner....seriously take it easy not sure of your age but even at my age I would take it easy...don't be in a rush sometimes we feel GREAT but then they next day we wake up and realize that we thought to far in advance....take it slow if you really want to exercise maybe try walking a lil faster.....and eazy up and down the steps.. Good luck on your journey

I specifically asked my surgeon this today at my pre-op appointment and he said walking only for six weeks. After that I can add intensity slowly as I felt comfortable. Definitely ask your surgeon before you start anything- at least call. It is easy to feel like you are ready and then injure yourself.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
