Bufflehead 6,358 Posted January 29, 2014 Unjury makes a chicken Soup flavored Protein that is very different from your typical shake. You can order sample packs here to see if you like it: http://www.unjury.com/store/protein/unjury-protein/unjury-protein-samples.html Many people find it more palatable. You can also get high protein Soups, Pasta, Cereal, pudding, chips, bars, etc. I like the soups but found the pasta and hot cereal and pudding revolting. I haven't had anything like high protein chips, biscotti, or Protein Bars since surgery because they are just too high carb for my plan. You can see some of the available types of food here: http://www.mybariatricpantry.com/Bariatric_Foods_s/7.htm You can also get high protein Hot Drinks such as hot chocolate and Cappuccino. I like those a lot, particularly the hot chocolate. I add in some sugar free syrups to make them more interesting - peppermint, caramel, etc. I also add in a teaspoon of instant coffee granules to the cappuccino drinks to make the coffee taste stronger. http://www.nashuanutrition.com/store/hot-drinks/ Good luck! 1 Who Dat 70461 reacted to this
Who Dat 70461 331 Posted January 29, 2014 There are many various Protein supplements. You can try the unflavored Protein powders and put it in just about anything. There are some really good protein bars, but be careful, they can be just as bad (some worse!) as candy bars. Need to try different protein drinks/shakes, there are some really good ones out there, just gotta find the one(s) you like. If you have a Vitamin Shoppe or GNC near you, they usually have sample sizes (you don't want to buy a 5 lb. jug of the stuff, just to find out you don't like it. ). We buy the Premier Protein ready to drink shakes from Sams and the Gladiator powder from smoothie King, which mixes really well...good stuff! I am almost 9 months out and my wife 7 months, we may drink one every 2-3 days now...much easier to get protein in foods now. Good luck!
sunkissed 20 Posted January 29, 2014 Thank you both so much!!! I will def. try GNC and I'll check those websites out!
Butterflyhigh 504 Posted January 29, 2014 You could start juicing vegetables and add unflavored Protein powder to that...or fruit smoothies if your nut is okay with allowing you fruit. Like the above poster said, you can even add unflavored powder to Soups.
feedyoureye 3,087 Posted January 29, 2014 just remember Protein powder will clump up at temps over 140 F degrees 1 Who Dat 70461 reacted to this
Teachamy 1,042 Posted January 29, 2014 Check out wonderslim.com. They have amazing mint hot cocoa (and regular). And they have Protein Drinks that are more like Crystal Light. I really like the Tangy Orange! You can also turn their shakes into pudding really easily, and I liked that too. A nice alternativeYummy protein!

Can't wait till I can though, it will certainly make my life easier!

mistysj 1,940 Posted January 29, 2014 Skim milk powder has 8 grams of Protein in 25 grams and dissolves into Water or milk just fine. You can even fit two or three servings of it into one glass of water and add some flavoring. It's not for everyone but worth a try.
sunkissed 20 Posted January 30, 2014 Thank you all for the ideas. I saw my doctor today he told me not to worry about Protein until next week, that is when I start my puréed diet. I will be blending a lot of chicken and fish! Lol
erp 2,016 Posted January 31, 2014 I found that I had to Water down my shakes in the beginning or else I couldn't get them down. If you have some aleady purchased, experiment with the thickness, temperature and what you mix them with. To be honest, I really hated them in the beginning as well but over time, you do develop a taste for them. Now I kind of like them.
