beautiful_amazon 4 Posted January 28, 2014 I was banded in December 10, 2010. I lost a total of 90lbs but now I have gained 30 to 40 of it back. I am going in for a fill next week, I believe I'm at 4.5cc now. I lost my way and started eating very unhealthy again...does anyone have any suggestions? I even started drinking while eating which defeats the entire purpose. I'm looking for a support group. Can anyone help?
Bandista 7,466 Posted January 28, 2014 Hi there and welcome to this forum. I joined last June when I started researching the band and have learned so much. There are some very compassionate people here willing to share their experiences and offer support. It's been so helpful for me over the process of getting banded and now as I get used to banded life. There are plenty of people starting over. We are all in it together, turning our lives around and getting healthy. Glad you are going for a fill next week. Keep us posted. Are you following any kind of food and exercise plan? I am trying to work all of that out for myself now -- the timing of my little meals, the not grazing, getting the exercise in even if I don't feel like it. Once I'm really on track there's no stopping me but we all get a little derailed from time to time. Here's to a happy healthy year ahead! 3 LenRen25, pinkylaty and Debbie3sons reacted to this
lisacaron 5,075 Posted January 28, 2014 In all honesty beauty what works for me when I find that I am slipping off the bandwagon, is to go back to basics for a while. I go back to the shakes and planning out my meals. I go back to the "proper" band eating mechanics, the chew chew chew, the 20 minutes to eat time frame. The one cup measurements, the no eating and drinking at the same time. I'll wait 10-15 minutes to half an hour after eating if I can before having a full beverage. I will take it back to the days of just having my band and work my way toward eating in rhythm with my band I find that this helps me remember that I have that little life saver in there that needs me to be compliant for it to work the way it was intended. We all have slip ups now and then we are human and we are unlearning behaviors that have been ingrained in us over the course of our lives. So my advice dear friend is forgive yourself, and start fresh again. Going to see your Dr. and getting a fill is a great way to start and you are already back on the path again! 7 JOANNE M HOLL, dawalsh, Debbie3sons and 4 others reacted to this
beautiful_amazon 4 Posted January 28, 2014 Well thanks that does help, I guess I do need to start all over from the basics
dawalsh 919 Posted January 28, 2014 Yes, what Lisacaron said. Go back to basics and start with the liquid diet again and keep going to the doctor for fills. No need to be embarassed, gains happen to the best of us. I think a lot of WLS people stop going to the doctor because they are embarassed because they have gained. Getting back on track is key. I wish you well as you continue your journey! 2 Debbie3sons and JOANNE M HOLL reacted to this
beautiful_amazon 4 Posted January 28, 2014 Do you all happen to know of any support groups I could attend in the DFW area?
lisacaron 5,075 Posted January 28, 2014 Does your bariatric doctor hold any support groups? Perhaps the nutritionist at the hospital might? Also some hospitals that perform surgeries will also have an organized support group. If you look on this site under the lapband forum section you will see a list of local support groups. Look up your area and ask that group if they know of any in your local area. Best of luck to you. 1 Debbie3sons reacted to this

rosettag 122 Posted January 29, 2014 I started eating "something more" and " something different" (different from the healthy food I should keep to ) at Christmas...and now I find it hard to go back to my healthy food I've never followed a pre-op diet, but, after reading your advice to beauty, I think Icould go on a sort of pre-op diet. TJONES76 2 Posted January 30, 2014 This is exactly what I was looking for. I am stuck and embarrassed, everybody is looking at me like why did she get that surgery and I look in the mirror and say the same. I will start over with liquids again and pray that I can reset it. Thanks for the advice 1 Successful4me reacted to this
911dispatcher 45 Posted January 30, 2014 I am gong through this right now, also. I had surgery 2 years ago, lost over 100 lbs, and have gained 20 lbs back in the past few months. I was eating anything and everything I wanted, with no restrictions from the band. I went back to my surgeon today, and had a fill, so I am on liquids again. He also sent me to the nutritionist to reinforce what I should be doing. I am determined again to turn this around, and am definitely gong back to the basics, including Protein Drinks. Good luck!! This is a long, hard journey, but I am gng to do this!
beautiful_amazon 4 Posted January 30, 2014 OMG, I have been struggling. I'm eating way better and getting a lot of headaches. I think it's my body's way of re-adjusting to my new eating habits. Hopefully I will feel better tomorrow. I am also starting to juice again: 4 times a day 8am, 12pm, 4pm, 8am 2 stalks of kale Handful of spinach Half a lemon A whole Granny Smith apple One cucumber A thumb part of ginger root All put in a juicer and consumed. Maybe you can try it.
Successful4me 51 Posted February 2, 2014 I was banded in December 10, 2010. I was banded 12/22/10 down 102lbs. I'm having my Band replaced 2/11/14 because it hasn't (the band) been right since it slipped in June 2012. My surgeon offered me the Sleeve but I'm comfortable with the band & not ready for my organs to be cut away & removed.
