You should check with your surgeon's office about clear liquids. I've seen everything from Water, to broth, to Jello on liquid lists. GOOD LUCK! :)

My doc's written instructions say anything that is semi clear - like chicken or beef broth (nothing with chunks or even little seasoning particles) - is considered a clear liquid. Basically if you can run it through a strainer, it's okay. For the 1st week I was allowed clear liquids and all the Protein Shakes I wanted.

Good luck to you! Hope all goes well. Can't wait to hear how you are doing. I'm right behind you... I'm on the 5th.

I too am being sleeved on the 5th, and your number in your name is my oldest daughters birthday :-)

Good luck to you and let us know how you are doing as soon as you can. My bag had been packed since December.

Clear liquids are tea, Water, chicken broth etc.

They might be difficult. Do not worry. If you can only get 1/4 teaspoon in at a time ... just have a 1/4 teaspoon at a time.

IT WILL GET BETTER every day.

Dont worry if you can't sleep Tuesday night. You WILL sleep all day Wednesday

Good Luck/

Don't be shy about asking for pain meds.

They will want to know when you fart. Enjoy it. Probably the only time in your life people WANT you to fart!

Yay, happy dance for ya! At the hospital they will let you know what you can have the clear menu is what I was put on. And I found the popscicles a big treat. The tray of food took over an hour to finish and just when you do finish your meals you want to fall asleep and the nurse pop in with pain medication. So it's all good!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
