I've got good restriction- how long does it last?

Recommended Posts

Once you feel you are at a proper level of restriction, how long does it take before you will need another fill? I know everyone's different but I would like to hear some of your experiences. Is there anyone who has never needed another fill?

Thanks!!!

Thank harley, but I guess what I'm asking is- I feel like I've got the perfect level of restriction right now. Will that change as I lose weight? If so, in a month? more than a month? Or will now that I feel I've gotten to the level that's just right for me, I won't need fills from now on....hope I'm making sense.

It does change as you lose weight.

Unfortunately for me, good restriction after a fill tends to last about a week, lol. I did have one, my third, I think, that lasted a month, but I lost heaps of weight and it petered out.

Having on this morning, hopefully this will be the one!

I have had several fills now, and a couple of them where I felt I was at perfect restriction. In fact, I am there now. However, as you lose weight, your stomach shrinks and your band gets looser, so you lose your restriction and will probably need another fill. When I am at really good restriction, I can usually go about 3 months before needing another fill.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
