Walk, walk, walk and walk some more. I took Gas-X, but don't think it did anything for me - the walking was the best thing for me

I really didn't feel like walking or gas-x did me any good. Didn't hurt or anything, but didn't seem to speed anything up. Different strokes and all that

You have to walk, walk, walk, and walk some more.

Same for me. For some reason I found I could relieve the gas easier when I was laying prone on the couch watching TV.

I'll echo the walking, walking, walking comments... Gax X helped relieve the gas in my stomach, but not gas trapped in my body from surgery. A heating pad helped a bit too..

I did a lot of walking but I also found riding along in the car with my seat leaned back and my feet up on the dash board helped shake it all up lol really helped me.

There's a common theme here & everyone is right. I started walking 2 hours after surgery & every so often while in the hospital. Then, all over my house. It definitely helped. It does eventually go away!

Walking is the best therapy for this. Gas-X would work just fine. But, don't continue to walk much if you feel pain. Lie down, relax, ease up then walk some more.

Hey, if the walking isn't cutting it for ya gas wise......no matter, it's the best thing for DVT (clots) prevention anyway. Another little trick I used for gas. I have a adjustable bed, so I raise the feet and turn on the vibrator. Works great.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
