Paying for Plastics (Mexico)

Recommended Posts

I have been spending the past few weeks researching and talking with numerous surgeons from Mexico. I decided on Dr. Sauceda in Monterrey but found out that the company he used to work with for financing/payment plans no longer works with him. Just wondering what other options there are. How did you pay for plastics? Or are there surgeons in Mexico that you know do payment plans/work with a financing company?

I saved the cash in advance - but that is what I do with all big purchases. I realize that can be hard, but if it is possible to "pay" yourself (ie deposit into savings) rather that repay loans it really is a good way to go. Some people that go to Dr S only do part of the procedures at a visit so they can afford it and then save up for a second surgery.

I'm in middle of researching plastics and looks like I'll need to take a loan out. I applied with a company known as carecredit.

Care credit is not accepted by Dr. Sauceda either. Can you get medical loans from just an ordinary bank?? The only reason I can't afford to wait to save money is that I am a college student now and once I graduate next year, I doubt many new jobs will be thrilled to let me take off such an extended period of time. That's why I am really trying to get something done this summer if at all possible. Just trying to find a way to make it work.

I will be financing plastic surgery eventually also. I know for me when I had to finance my sleeve we were only about to get about $3,200 from Care Credit so we went to our bank and requested for a personal loan. We did not qualify for enough with a personal loan so we then were able to basically use my husband's truck as collateral. It was well worth it! Talk to your credit union or bank and let them know your needs... someone should be able to show you your options.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
