friend2felines 0 Posted January 27, 2014 Hi, I am 1 week till surgery - 3 October. I've been on Optifast for 3.5 weeks now. (whew!) I have lost a total of 9 kilos and have so much more energy! I think the most important thing is to keep a positive attitude. I have found myself daydreaming about the foods I miss - and have had to redirect my attention. I am wondering for those of you who have had the op already - How long before I can drive? This may sound frivolous considering the surgery I'm going through, but my hubby works out of town Mon-Frid and after week 2, I will be home alone. Also, is there anyone else with Diabetes ll, going through this? Before I started on Optifast my morning glucose levels were 4.5-5......now they are ranging 6.4-7.....just wondering why. Oh, I'm in Australia so those levels for US would be 81-90 and now 115.2-126. Thanks Theresa
Texasmeg 568 Posted January 27, 2014 Hello and welcome to the forum. My Doc. said I could drive 48 hours after being off anesthesia and narcotic pain medicine. As to the sugar levels, how much are you consuming in the Optifast? I drink Muscle Milk Light and Premier Protein, both are low in carbs.
friend2felines 0 Posted January 27, 2014 Hello, Thanks for the reply - here in Australia we mix the Optifast with Water. I've been on the 'intensive' portion of the program, so it's been three Optifast, 2 cups green veggies and 2-3 liters of Water.
Texasmeg 568 Posted January 27, 2014 One thing I do know. My husband is a Type II diabetic and his blood sugar rises if he doesn't eat (seems counterintuitive, but that's how it works). In any case, your's isn't very high.
