I havent bought a scale

Recommended Posts

Had my surgery on 1/14. I look at myself and still see the same fat. I do realize it is early, but with the pre-surgery diet and nothing but Protein Powder in Water, now no lump/no bump Soup and water. I'm afraid to buy a scale because I believe it will show the same weight and this will depress me more. I started tracking calories on my fitness pal today though, again, it's all Protein Drinks thus far. I am so down, everything still looks the same. I'm just afraid to verify it.

Too bad you didn't post earlier...I could have sent you my scale. I threw mine out when I started my preop. I now weigh once/week at work just to have something to put on my ticker. And, you're right, you may be disappointed with the number on the scale right now because you probably actually gained a lot of Water weight during surgery (I was still up 5 pounds at 10 days postop)

Just keep following your postop instructions and you will lose.

Ah the love/hate relationship with the scale! There seem to be 2 distinct camps..... 1) those who weigh every day and can't imagine not doing so, and 2) those that weigh 1 time per week or month. I think either can be an ok way to treat your weight and the scale. You just need to figure out what works for YOU!

Personally I weigh almost every day. The progress is slow, but it helps keep me accountable with how diligent I am following the weight loss program. I am ok with multiple days of no loss. I am ok with a small gain. I expect to see about 2 pounds per week overall loss. It took me a long time and a lot of pounds (over 50) before I could look in the mirror and see "weight loss". I even had trouble with my pre-surgery clothes still fitting even after 60 pounds. Everyone's journey is different and you need to figure out what motivates you.

For people who choose to weigh daily, that is the attitude they need to have! I know I would probably start to obsess (like I did on the infamous HCG diet), so I chose the once/week strategy.

Honestly, my stomach was so swollen the first month or so after surgery, I looked pregnant. Looking in the mirror is a hard way to detect weight loss because many of us suffer from body dismorphia where we don't see ourselves as others see us. It wasn't until I lost 50 pounds before I and others actually even noticed a weight loss. You need to just take it easy and focus on healing and following your doctors plan. The results will follow. Best of luck to you.

My question is what is the right type of scale? My home scale says one amount the drs Ofc has a totally diff amount. Which one is accurate and which do i Use to trak my true weight loss if any. I'm 13 days p.o.and I've not lost far as much I'd thought i would only lost 9lbs since surgery 1/14/14. Maybe it's my home scale not accurate. What brand is best for calculating bmi weight etc.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
