I am almost 3 weeks post op and have hit a stall already. I've only lost 10 pounds since surgery and have been the same weight for a week! It's very discouraging this early on. Dealing with the emotions of no food, pain and weakness and what I've done to myself, on top of no weightloss is killing me. Maybe I really can't lose weight even with the sleeve?! Anybody else experience this?

One thing you need to understand about our diets in the beginning is it focuses on feeding our muscles with Protein and Water to prevent dehydration. Water is heavy and expelled differently with each of us and muscle weighs more than fat.

Have patients as your body adjusts to all the changes you have introduced in such a short period. Stay true to your plan and your body will respond visually.

Try to weigh yourself less and focus on diet and exercise plan and all will come together.

Good luck

The 3rd week is notorious for stalls. The good news is you will still be losing inches and eventually the stall will end. Stick to your surgeon/NUT's dietary plan and it will all work out - although it will be frustrating. Try to not cheat ahead on foods that you shouldn't be eating yet - definitely no sliders :) - if you need inspiration during the frustrating times, record your measurements today, then measure in a week. You will keep shrinking, even if the darn scale won't cooperate!

I stalled for 10 days between weeks 3 and 4. Even though I knew stalls happen, it's a tough pill to swallow for sure.

Just keep following your plan - get your Water in and you're Protein. Walk, walk, and walk some more - it's good for your body and your mind.

Also, I suggest ditching the scale for a while - certainly don't weigh every day. My husband saw what weighing every day was doing to me (and I blogged about it). It's bad for your mind. He brings out the scale once per week. That really saved me.

Just keep your chin up - you're doing fine. Be kind to yourself.

Most everyone stalls at 3 weeks. It's been dubbed the dreaded three-week stall. It's completely normal.

Brace yourself for the stalls. They happen. And it sucks. You just have to push through it.

Yes, I am in a stall now, after being sleeved 12/23/2013. Of the 38 pounds I have lost, 16 are post-op....then nothing in spite of my best efforts and compliance with the plan that was given to me. It is sooooooo discouraging, but this forum helps me to keep my chin up.

Even though I am doing strength training 3 days a week, and aerobic exercises on opposite days, I guess I will have to step it up some more. I really can't eat any less without risking malnutrition. I couldn't lose weight on 1,000 calories before, so I am coming in at 600 - 800 calories and 70 grams of Protein. All else I could do, I guess, is to skew the balance toward even more Protein. Man oh man, no wonder we get so weary waiting for the process to do its thang. Hang in there.

I'm 6 weeks out tomorrow and have been stalled for the last 2 weeks at a 40 lb loss (18 of that pre-op). Hang in there.

I'm in the same boat! Sleeved the 14th. I have lost 23lbs total but nothing for a few days. I'm trying not to weigh as often cause it does discourage us! It is nice to know someone else feels exactly like I do!

I have the same issue of stalling but My problem outside of stalling is each scale i get on is so diff. My scale at home says one amount then the one at the drs ofc says something else. Which one is more accurate? How can i know exactly how much if any I've lost. I'm 13 days post op and only lost 9lbs and that's pre and post loss in total (3lbs pre 6lbs post). I'm trying not to be discouraged but its hard when the most weight should be lost in the veginnibg or at lest that's what i was told.

Well I use my scale at home as my "weight loss" judge. I know what I weighed at the start using my home scale and what I'm weighing now, so I go by it. I disregard the doc scale. Plus I usually weigh at home in the morning, naked ! LOL When I go to doc in afternoon I figure I weigh more naturally so that is another reason I use my home scale.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
