I'll be a year post-op Feb 26th. Last night by husband and I went to a new restaurant and the dish I ordered was spicy (i didn't know). I only ate 3 bites before I couldn't take anymore and OMG did my stomach KILL. For hours last night my stomach was on fire! To the point I questioned going the the hospital (I just felt too dumb lol)...

Anyone else have such negative effects of spice. I've never been a spice eater anyways, but this was horrific!

Before sleeving I was a spice fanatic. I piled on the cayenne and ate Szechuan peppers, etc.. My first venture with hot and sour Soup resulted in a trip to the bathroom.

My relationship with hot and spicy food has been discontinued. However, my wife thinks I'm hot and spicy. Fair trade. :D

Living in South Louisiana, spicy food is the norm. I'm almost 9 months out and haven't had any issues with spicy foods yet.

Of course, crawfish season is just around the corner and it isn't good unless you have tears running down your cheeks and your sinuses are flowing (TMI, huh?! LOL), so I guess that will be the real test! :D

I lived in Lafayette for a couple years. It is where I acquired a taste for the spicy. Miss that Cajun goodness!

Laissez les bons temps rouler! :D

I love mexican food!! So far, I've handled the spicy stuff pretty well; although, I wasn't ever a REALLY HOT spice eater!

Now, give me that NOLA Poboy and Beignets. Man, oh, man! Luckily, it's only 1/4 poboy now and one beignet!!!

living in Arizona I'm a die hard "I love Mexican food eater" and since being sleeved September 25, it's hard to get my spicy food to sit comfortably and not hurt. :( I'm hoping it gets better with time.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
