I need some advice...

I had my Endoscopy on Friday. For quite some time I've been experiencing nausea and occasional dry heavie'ness.

My G.I. tract tends to be a bit sensitive and a bout bronchitis back in November and the subsequent round of antibiotics seem to have set it off, and I have been having ulcer like symptoms.

Before I left my doctors office, I was given the report his findings: my esophagus looked fine (yay!); however, I have a erosive gastritis, of which he took several biopsies; he removed a polyp, which will also be biopsied; and finally, he took a biopsy specific to check for celiac.

My concern is the erosive gastritis. I'm hoping that it will not prevent me from having surgery.

Has anyone else had experience with this?

Thanks for your input!

Sooo, to answer my own question: from the research I've done and input from others who have already gone down this road, I shouldn't have any problem getting the surgery... we shall see what the surgeon says about it. Nerves!

I just had a bunch of Polyps removed (2nd Endo) and was told I had extreme amounts of stomach bile. My GI says I will be fine to move forward with VSG as planned & just to make sure I take my Prilosec & Sucralfate as prescribed.

Your MDs will likely place you on PPI (like Prilosec) for a while. Unless the bipopsy discovers something untoward, likely WLS will go forward.

My surgeon had me on 1 a day omeprazol when I left the hospital. It wasn't enough for me so he upped the dosage. Just an FYI if your dr has to up dosage it's cheaper as a prescription to take a higher dosage once a day than to take the same dosage twice a day. I'm tons better now but can tell pretty quickly if I forget to take it.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
