I want to SCREAM because I love my SLEEVE

Recommended Posts

He first 3 weeks I really struggled with Vitamins and Protein. There were days I wouldn't take my Vitamins and forget about the Protein. I tried every single one that was recommended to me and I would gag at just the smell. So I was only getting 20g of protein the most a day. I was getting really upset and wanted to give up but I didn't. I knew that each day would get better and I ha you wonderful people to give me advise.

I walked 3 miles a day between walking during lunch and at the gym.

Yesterday I started soft food and my protein was 63g which I was sooo happy. My NUT said it's a must that I get 70g a day.

A friend from here named Linda has given me great advise. I was at a stall because during mushy food I started eating mashed potatoes(not often but at least twice a week) and watermelon(3 times per week) .. She explained how the potatoes have the carbs and the watermelon have the sugar. I listened and stopped eating them and got cottage cheese as a replacement. Prior to surgery, I hated cottage cheese. My co-worker told me to get the whipped and I was surprised how much I loved it. I listened and my stall is gone..

Today, I didn't each much yogurts but I added thin sliced turkey an light cheese, tuna, light mayo, Quest Protein Bar and I was soooo satisfied. (Not at once of course) ..

I worked out at the gym for 1.5hours as well and I had so much energy..

Why am I happy with my sleeve? Well I use my fitness pal and use a personal diary to calculate my food and here are my results for today....

Drum roll please haha

Cal-593, fat-19.5, sugar-10.1, carbs-36.8, Protein 80.2g(OMG this made me soooo happy). I was shocked that I am above goal of what my NUT told me. I feel full and satisfied. I am so motivated and have lots of energy.

December 30-surgery day 213lbs

January 25, 191lbs

My weight loss is slow but I am happy :)

Excellent, Donaboss!

You're approaching this in a thoughtful intelligent way and it is going to pay off for you. Slow trains reach their destinations and are less likely to derail. Forge ahead, my friend!

Donaboss, thank you for sharing. I am 15 day pre-op so I love hearing all of these things so I can get prepared. I am traveling for business 3 weeks after surgery so do you have any helpful tips of wisdom to share?

Honestly by then you should be fine. Try to eat food with Protein as much as you can. Cottage cheese was my favorite food during week 3 and 4. Light and fit Greek yogurts are great too. And if you are I to Protein Shakes than that will be the best choice. Make sure you have a bottle of Water with you at all times. Don't forget the Vitamins :) and make sure you chew slowly of you don't want to have any gas or acid problems

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
