I went to my appt. He didn't clear me yet. My blood pressure was too high and my heart was racing. I told him I was nervous and hot. I had 2 sweat shirts on. It was -15 out. He wasn't having any excuses. I got the impression he had no bedside manner. He is going to have me do an echo. Im nervous and scared. I know what I've done to my body with food and this is only heart I got. I really want to be cleared. 2 yrs prior I had my gallbladder out at 60lbs heavier and was cleared by a cardiologist. I have an appt with surgeon day before my echo. Maybe he will have options. My insurance only requires a 3 month diet. Just ranting. Im nervous. Sorry.

Don't worry. All will be well. The echo was part of the regular tests we have to take for my surgeon and it tells a whole lot more than the EKG. You will do fine, it's just a simple test and they will clear you. They just want to make sure. Please don't worry, it will happen.

Don't fret the Cardiologist. Embrace it. Like you said, it's the only heart you have and it has a sneaky tendency of causing problems rather sudden and unexpectedly. A while back, I had a heart attack right out of the blue and when I was the lightest & fittest I'd been in 10 years. My Cardiologist saved my life and since then, she is voice that I consider above all others.

It's so worth it to get this done - if there IS a problem, it doesn't necessarily preclude surgery and they can take extra precautions to make sure you come through safely.

My surgeon didn't require me to meet with a cardiologist, but I've done so anyway because of my BP and palpitations. He's aware of what I'm trying to do, and knowing he's in the loop makes me feel a lot more comfortable about what I'm jumping into!

Best of luck to you :)
