Just a Little Hiccup

Recommended Posts

Ever since my first fill on Tuesday, I have started hiccuping when I get hungry. Usually about 5 hours after I eat. Every now and then, hungry or not, I just hiccup for no reason. It's not a series of hiccups. Just one usually. Maybe two.

I tried to do a search but everyone else was talking about hiccups during or right after eating.

Has anyone else had this happen? It's not really a problem or anything I just wonder if it may be a precursor to reflux or something.

I usually have a small hiccup or 2 when I first start eating. I haven't noticed that it's changed and don't give it much thought. I try not to get worked up about reflux too much which is hard for me because I had such severe reflux before surgery and such a bad hiatel hernia that my actual initial surgery visit was for hiatel hernia repair not lap band. Lapband was a bonus. What a good one :).

Yes ma'am. It is very normal. I hiccup on an empty stomach all the time since banded. It's not really a hiccup it's more like small burps which are of course gas bubbles being released. I haven't really researched it to find out why I just accept it as it is. It's nothing to worry about.

My insides do goofy stuff since I have been banded. Funny little hiccups, weird burps, strange rumblings and bumblings... I figure that as long as it doesn't hurt and I'm not hurling blood or some strange substance, it's all good. LOL

I hiccup too, when I need to eat and when I've had enough food, usually around a 1/2 cup. I call it my little helper!

IN the 9+ years since my BandOp, I've NEVER had ANY hiccups. That may be odd, yet here I am.

Nor do I belch (hardly ever) where preOp it was fairly frequently.

Don't know what to make of it, if anything.
