Whose start weight is 255 or more?

Recommended Posts

I'm less than a week away from surgery and couldn't be more excited. I'm 255 and have 130 pounds to lose and am nervous I won't make it to my goal. I know if I stick to the plan I will get there but I'm just curious to see if anyone feels the same?!

I'm 5'7" and started at 301. It actually shocked me that I weighed that much when I saw it. I'm now 283 and will surely lose more on my pre-op diet before my actual day of surgery, which is Feb 18th. I'm not at all scared I won't lose the weight. I'm in it to win it. I know it'll be hard. The hardest thing I'll probably ever do, but this tool is going to give me my life back and I plan on living it to the fullest. At goal.

I'm 5'2 and my starting weight was 265. Now 8 months out and almost to the 100 lb lost mark. It has been slower than the surgeon expected but I have a lot of stress in my life at the moment. I am just happy the weight is still coming off.

My start weight was 267.2, height 5'7". I'm seven weeks post-op, and my weight is now 216.3, so down 50.9 pounds (34.1 pounds down since my surgery date). I have had zero complications, and in my case, this surgery has hardly even been a disruption. Nothing I've ever done to lose weight before has ever been so effective. I still worry that I wont lose the other 81 pounds I need to lose to get to goal, but I'll keep doing my best and working this tool, and we'll see what happens. If the first seven weeks is any indication of what the rest of my life will be like, I'm pretty well set up. So far, I love my sleeve!

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
