I am just a woman that has struggled with weight issues since as long as I can remember. I remember being teased in 3rd grade about my weight. I have been up and down weight wise and really am frustrated. The least I have weighed in adult hood is 170, the most is what I weigh now... 260:help: .

I live in San Diego and have a wonderful 2 (well he will be 2 in April) year old son. The father is not in our lives and is probably better that way. I love animals, camping, bowling and many more things.

Hello bluejay,

Are you thinking about getting the Band? In your post it is not clear what kind of reply you are looking for. I have been very happy with my band. I can not eat like a delicate lady instead of a hired hand and not only have I lost weight, but i feel so much better about who i am. Being out of control around food was a monkey on my back. Now it's gone.

San Diego must be beautiful. I heard once that it has the best weather in the states. Lots of chances for outdoor fun!

If you have more questions, please ask. We lapbandsters are here for you.

annieM,

Yes I am thinking of getting the lap band I am calling my doctor tomorrow (03/26) to schedule an appointment to see if I can be approved for the surgery. My insurance has already said that if my doctor says that I can have the surgery they will cover everything.

San Diego is beautiful to most people but I am a native and I am really starting to hate it here. It is over crowded, hard to find a job and prices are outrageous. It is really hard surviving on one income unless you make a 6 figure salary.

Yes the weather is nice, I suppose. It gets hot in the summer and cold in the winter, although sometimes you can wear shorts all year around depending on how tolerant you are of the cold.

Anyhow... I am going to be moving out of San Diego as soon as I can.

Hi Bluejay! Welcome to LBT! This site is a wonderful place for lots of information and support. I was banded on 1/30/07 and am doing well. It was one of the best decisions I have made. Feel free to ask any questions. Everyone here is great. Best of luck to you! Gigi

Welcome! I would LOVE to move off Long Island, NY to a warmer place where it's less crowded and hectic and where you're not taxed to death. My job and family keep me here but I won't retire here. Good luck with the MD approving you for the band.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
