rinny11 17 Posted January 24, 2014 My bariatric Dr. wanted a form stating problems I have ( like hypertension) signed by my primary care Dr. My primary care Dr. Is reluctant to sign that form because of personal issues. Did anyone else run into a problem like this? I'm afraid my surgeon won't do my surgery. Does anyone have a suggest on how to handle this situation?
mosaicforyou67 5 Posted January 24, 2014 You may want to consider finding a professional that will be supportive. I wish you well. 2 rinny11 and SugarFreeMe reacted to this

SugarFreeMe 293 Posted January 25, 2014 Did your PCP give you a specific reason for not signing? Seems if he/she was really concerned with your health they would support you. Might need to find someone else. 1 rinny11 reacted to this
SoccerMomma73 1,867 Posted January 25, 2014 You're PCPs personal issues should not interfere with professional judgement. This is a case of what is best for you medically, not what your PCP does or doesn't like. Does he (or she) have a specific reason or are they just blowing you off? 1 rinny11 reacted to this
Sallyawbc 46 Posted January 25, 2014 Try typing up the information that the bariatric MD wants addressed and ask your PMD to sign it and make comments ,if nec. Be strong and assertive, this is your life. Maybe that will show him how serious you are to get this done. 1 rinny11 reacted to this
rinny11 17 Posted January 25, 2014 Thanks everyone,I did type up a letter to my PCP ,telling him my concerns ,asking him to reconsider, I sent the form he needed to sign with the letter I wrote, now all I can do is wait. Thanks again for all the support, you all are great! 1 Sallyawbc reacted to this
ReaRaes 49 Posted January 25, 2014 If he still doesn't sign it, ask f or a copy of all of your medical records that they have and take them to a new doctor. Especially going through this, you are going to need a primary care doctor you can trust to do what is best for you. Your new pcp should then be able to look at your records from the old office and write up a letter, without delaying your surgery. Good luck with your letter...
