how much food can u hold?

Recommended Posts

I had my surgery middle of august 2013. I just want to check with others to see the amount that they can hold. for example I just fixed my lunch. I made a grilled ham and cheese sandwich. I ate the entire thing. I am full. I did NOT eat anything else or drink anything. some days I can only eat half a sandwich..others the whole thing. I am still losing weight. SLOWLY...BUT SURELY.

I will add that some days eating out. like last weekend my hubby and I ate Mexican. I had 8-12 chips and 1 soft taco (which I could not eat the entire taco) and 1 margatetta. is this normal for you?

My new tummy, at 4 weeks out, raises an objection for anything over 1/3 cup plus 2 tablespoons. Sometime, like this morning, I was eating scrambled eggs and cheese, and could only eat two bites. Drinking alcoholic beverages is something I won't be doing for a long time. Everything I consume must have food value of some sort.

I am three weeks out on Monday. Still on liquids (including applesauce and yogurt). Some days I can eat a whole can of Soup ( May take an hour) others I can eat only half. It's weird.

At 7 weeks out I can't consume more than 2 oz of anything. If I eat more than that I feel sickening full. I'm fine with that ...

I'm over a year out and it fluctuates a lot for me. Some days I swear I feel like I don't even have a sleeve at all and I can eat normal portions. Not good but I can. And other days ill get super full on half the amount of food. It's strange. Because of being able to eat more I was eating more then I should for a while so what I do now is make sure I portion everything out even on days when I feel I can eat a little more. I just don't.

Same exact thing here. Every meal is oddly different. It's definitely more on average than it was 6-8 months ago but no where near what it was pre surgery.

I am one week out and just finished a bowl of cream Soup. It was a normal take-out bowl size. Not sure how many ounces. I was surprised and a little worried that I finished the whole thing with no problem :(

I am 4 months out and the amount I can eat varies pretty drastically. I have eaten an egg, a slice of Pepperidge Farms very thin bread (the only bread I eat), and 1.5 ounces of ham in one setting and didn't feel overly full. Other times, just eating an egg, or half a cup of cottage cheese, makes me feel stuffed. Some days I'm much hungrier than other days, too, especially a week or two before my period arrives.

Tortilla chips are sliders for me. I try to steer clear because they were always my downfall. If I do indulge, I limit myself to 5 chips.

I can eat about half of a small cheeseburger if I take the top bun off. 7 weeks out. Sometimes I can fit an egg, but other times a few bites of string cheese will stuff me.

I have to say, I'm the same as everyone else and I was freaking out about it. I do find that if I eat multiple meals throughout the day I never feel satisfied. But, if I have a strong, solid Protein meal, I only eat about 4 times a day and not as much. It's very weird. Some days I just seem to have a bottomless pit. Others I can't eat more than a few bites. I wonder if some of it has to do with the barometric pressure outside and the fluids inside our bodies?

Thanks for posting this topic! It made me feel a lot better!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
