So Im 2 months out and ready to get back on birth control. Surgeon wanted me to wait 3 months but my husband and I had a near accident so I'm going on it now. My question is about the depo shot. Has anyone gone on that post op and did it effect your loss? I've heard it can make you gain weight. I'd rather not have to take a pill everyday.

I've heard good and bad things about that birth control. My bestfriend was on it and it effected her badly. Weight gain and she had periods on and off sometimes 2 times a month. Have you thought about the one they put in your arm? I was looking into that one for myself.

I'm thinking of getting the copper IUD. No hormones involved!

I had the copper kid and had a tubal pregnancy with it, almost died in major surgery. Very painful long periods and developed anemia while I had it. I took a chance and tried the mirena and all is well two years later. I had the mirena during surgery also.

I'm thinking of getting the copper IUD. No hormones involved!

After talking with my doctor I opted not to get the depo. She said the average weight gain is 5lbs a year and she said she didn't want to set me back. I ended up with the lowest dose of hormone pill available.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
