Has anyone NOT PB'd??

Recommended Posts

I'm just curious..have any of you NOT pb'd?? I've eaten too fast..or a little too much. I've had the golfball in the throat pain. Stood in front of the sink for a good 10 minutes trying to burp and waiting for the awful pain to go away. But never actually thrown up. I feel like I could control it if it happened, but try not to let myself get that far. Is it just bound to happen?? Or could I possibly go forever without pbing?? Just wondering how many don't pb.

Thanks!

Stacy

Knock on wood, I have never pb'd! I had my surgery NOv. 30, and so far, so good! I have also gotten that golf ball feeling, but it just passed after a few minutes. I have never even come close, really, so maybe you will be one of the lucky ones!

I'll be 2 years out April 4th and I have NEVER experienced an honest to God PB. I have vomited related to stomach flu and some gall bladder issues, but never related to eating, over-eating or the like. (Cross my heart and hope to die).

Slime to me is to pb, to pb does not mean you throw up, like it comes from the toes, it's the relief of that golf ball feeling or stuck feeling with "slime" ....just my opinion. Hope that wasn't TMI.

I am 3 months out and have not yet. I have slimed a few times. Ick.

Someone above me said something about PB and slime bieng the same..

In my experience of these things being TWO very different things.. I am considering them seperate issue things.

Well, I was banded 2/23 and am no longer a pb virgin. A couple pb's over ham and noodles. Actually over the weekend I had to make myself throw up, thought I could eat spaghetti noodles...well, thought wrong. I had the horrible golf ball feeling that would not for the life of me go away for what felt like an eternity, but didn't take much effort. Felt better almost immediately. Needless to say, I'm not starting my 'transitional foods' anytime soon, it's mushies all the way! I actually got done eating tuna salad w/crackers, no problem so far...

Chances are it will happen at some point, but you don't have to PB every time something gets stuck. It's pretty frequent that something doesn't go down right, but fixes itself. I've been to the point of KNOWING I was going to PB - getting paper ready, cleared out the sink or shut myself in the bathroom, and I'm just waiting and then *all better* with no PBIng.

I don't consider sliming to be PB, either. But since we aren't dealing with real terminology, you'll find a LOT of variations.

To me, sliming is when I'm in a state of producing excess saliva. I consider it one of the indications of a PB. And to me, a PB is when something (slime, food, foam...) is forcibly ejected from the esophagus.

I always put PB and smile in the same catagory. I was about 6 months out before it happened. I thought it was never going to happen to me but it seems no matter how careful you are, the odds are in favor you will PB or smile at some point.

It's not the end of the world, it just feels like it! I have learned when it is coming on, I try to relax and just ride it out. Everyone I'm around is familiar with the signs and they just sit back and try to be supportive. I think they are really sitting there going, "damn, glad it's not me!"

It has been over 5 months since my surgery and not even a small feeling of a PB or even a slime.... I keep worrying that there is something wrong because I have not PB'd as of yet. Hopefully I will just quietly loose weight and never have to experience it.

I have not ever really gotten the golf ball feeling either, I have been uncomfortable a couple of times, but that is all...

<knocking on wood>:clap2:

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
