5 months out - Huge weight loss stall and I'm hungry all the time now

Recommended Posts

I was sleeved on Aug 20th. I've lost about 120lbs between the pre-surgery diet and surgery itself. A few things I've noticed that concern me:

1) I haven't lost any weight in over a month.

2) I can eat a good deal more now than I could a couple of months ago. I still get the "did I stretch my pouch?" worry sometimes.

3) I've been really hungry lately. I'll eat, get full, then an hour later I'm hungry again. When I say hungry, I mean I feel like I'm starving.

I must add, that i broke my foot in October and was pretty much immobile for nearly three months. I still limp, but I'm at a point where I think I can start exercising again (just no cardio or foot-related exercises yet). But, from everything I've seen, read, heard, been told by doctors and so on, the first year weight just comes off, your metabolism shouldn't adjust to your new caloric intake for at least a year. Do "stalls" still happen five months out? I'm currently in a "that's it, the weight loss is over" phase. Hopefully I'll step on the scale in a few weeks and see that five more pounds have vanished!

Wow, 109 lobs in five months. You are obviously doing what is right. And even in light of your temporary setbacks, you know what to do to keep the weight coming off. Just keep doing it. You'll get there. Terrific results. Don't let any negatives get to you.

Yeah, I can't deny the gains I've had so quickly, but I am trying to be mindful of my body and what's going on with it. I don't want to be stuck at where I'm at now, then a pound comes back, then two, then in two years I'm back to where I was! The main reason for my post is that I'm wondering about the hunger. I'm not sure of the cause. I went from not really caring about food much to thinking about what I'm going to eat next, while I'm eating!

Idle mind thingy.....food creeps in. Do more workouts.....start a project.....get busier. It's probably just the head hunger thing. Fight it off and get back to it.

Sage advice. It's probably is because I've done nothing but sit around with a broken foot for the last three months. We'll see how it goes now that I can work out again.

I have managed to re-watch most of Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis though!

did you ever break out of your stall? the first months I had the weight flying off of me. the first 7 months I dropped 120lbs and still have about 80-100 to go, so its not like im close to my goal weight.. now I haven't seen the scale move (besides the movement of up 4 lbs down 4 lbs. up 3 lbs down 3lbs.) in over a month. I am super frustrated. I started working out because I knew this stall was coming, I didn't before hand. I even switched up my workouts and added and removed cardio to my work out.

please tell me it gets better? lol

I'm 3 months out and I get horrible hunger pangs an hour after I eat. Pretty much every time. I also get nauseated after 2-3 bites. Hoping this gets better. I can't find any food patterns that change this. It's not too much sugar or fat. Ugh.

I always get hungry every few hours. I just have a calorie/protein goal and eat several small meals a day.

I've found I'm hungry more often than I thought I'd be. Right now everything is still so new so I'm keeping focus on my immediate goals. I do eat if I feel hungry but I make smart choices. Smarter than I did in the past which is how I got into that mess. Now I'm going in the right direction.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
