POOP QUESTION ALERT

So I've been clogged up. Had to go the fleet route to get things flowing but it was still bad. So I started taking colace 1x day and that did nothing. So now I'm tAking 2x day.

I've noticed that I've GAINED 2 pounds since doing this. Is it making me retain Water? Why the weight gain?

OMG - the dreaded poo!

My NUT wanted me to take Metamucil and a good quality pro-biotic. Both helped me immediately upon taking (like within 90 minutes).

I've recently had another bout with things not moving...I'm back on the Metamucil and will continue to take daily. I was taking Colace, but the doc doesn't want that to be a long term solution, she wants a more natural approach.

Best of luck

Impacted is something you do not want to ignore or waste time messing around with what doesn't work. It will only get worse and you will get to a point you want to go to the ER and have 'em get it out with a rooter router.

Go to the drug store and get a bottle of Magnesium Citrate. It taste like unsweetened koolaide. Drink it down and all will better in about an hour or so. It will completely clean you out and is very easy on the system as well.

Once you get 'cleaned out', make sure you get in plenty of fluids. I've found things go much better when I drink plenty of Water. Good luck, it's a bad feeling to be backed up!

Are you getting in all your Water? The gain is most likely due to being backup up. You don't want it to go on too long, you might want to give your doctor a call. He may tell you to take something stronger than Colace.

Good luck!

Far and away the worst part for me. I made the joke before that I was going to train a hamster to use a flashlight and a pick axe!

Milk of magnesia worked for me. Stay on top of it once you get things moving!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
