What time do you eat dinner? Are you getting enough Protein in with your meals.

I had my first fill about a month ago, due for another next Monday. I have no restriction yet, I am eating to much, I am trying to practice smaller portions. Evening time seams to trigger my need to stuff my face with junk. I haven't yet but it is hard.

go ahead and eat something. just try and keep it healthy. a lot of healthy choices out there to eat. keep Protein at the fore front and than choose something with that in mind. a Protein Bar, shake, chicken Soup, yogurt, low fat cottage cheese, a banana, a smoothie etc. if you keep yourself satisfied you won't make a bad choice like chips, candy, ice cream etc.

You may be one of those, many of us are, who needs more than 3 meals a day. As terrydumont said, try eating something healthy, Protein filled, otherwise, you may be so famished at dinner, that you will try to compensate and overeat. Best wishes, Karen..aka.kll724

i agree with karen/terry, if you are truly hungry, and not just head hunger or bored, then eat......to have a band is not about not eating....its about eating better foods (protein preferred to help keep us fuller longer) and enjoy living and not be so hung up on watching the clock and scared to eat.....sorry to ramble......to answer, if hungry, eat.......eat to feed/fuel your body.....

I was a dieter for such a long time that I find myself saving up for later in the day -- part of a restrictive mentality I am working to retrain. I am not on a diet! I eat healthy foods and only when I'm hungry with a few stumbles here and there. My surgeon has a fill schedule post-op that has put me at four fairly quickly. I have felt a tiny bit more restriction each time. I'm on a plateau right now but feel okay with that. Working on the Protein angle, making sure I'm getting enough in each day. You sound like you are right on target for post-op return of hunger (can't see from your stats when you were banded) and one fill in -- but some have a primed band, we are all different, etc. Anyway, I can relate to the four o'clock -- maybe you are programmed for high tea!

You'll be in "bandster hell" until you get the fill that gives you enough restriction for the band to work it's magic. That may be 1 fill or 6. No one knows. Till then, like our esteemed forum member B-52 says,

"Until there's restriction...It's just another diet"

I agree with what everyone else has said. If you're truly hungry, eat! I believe I've found my green zone, but I still struggle with being hungry in the evenings. I work 3rd shift every other week, so my body is always confused. haha I just always make sure I have good, healthy Snacks available at all times. As long as you're making good food choices, there's no need to suffer with hunger.

I called the dr. Going in next week for a fill and requested the fluoroscopy machine. They said yes It's the night time that gets me. During the day I am so busy I don't care if I am starving. Seriously. Night time I an starving and care! Lol.

I mostly eat fresh fish and fresh organic veggies. The other night I had the min hides so bad I ate a small bag of Cheetos! Really? I never ate that shit before! Hate junk food!

I just read a post of yours where you state you're drinking your veggies? If you're drinking veggie juice and not eating veggies you're defeating the purpose of the band! juice is a slider food and wont give you the satiety you're seeking? You might want to go back and re-visit how the band works its magic?

Veggies are a dense food that can stimulate the valgus nerve so you might want to eat them raw or cooked.

I order green juice from Juice Girl. Fresh organic. Good stuff. I only do this bc during the day I am always on the go, and I fear I am not getting my veggie intake when I eat bc I am focusing on Protein. Is that wrong?

If you go back to your original reason for this thread, "wanting to eat everying after 4 pm", juice won't give you long term satiety. But I don't think adding vegetables alone will satisfy your hunger, but it could mitigate that hunger. No need to give up the juice though.

Juice has no Fiber where whole vegetables do have Fiber. The stomach will process the juice rapidly where it won't with whole vegetables. You want that slow digestive process to stay satisfied longer.

You're still in the Bandster hell zone but as you get fills and your band is adjusted properly you might want to leave veggie juice and quick fix meals behind as they don't allow the band to work it's magic. Dense Protein, vegetables, brown rice and crisp fruits offer much more in the line of long term satiation.

Your smart so you'll develop this love/hate relationship with your band as your journey progresses and find that some foods give you that 4-5 hours of hunger satiety. It took me 8 months to figure it out and I'm still learning.

I usually drink the juice in the morning before I eat anything. It's made of kale, spinach, parsley, cucumber, lemon, and romaine. I don't think I eat quick fix meals. I spent 2 years in culinary school. I enjoy cooking. Which makes this band even more difficult. I usually prepare some Chilean sea bass and sautéed fresh organic spinach. I prefer fish over all other Proteins. Maybe fish is too "slippery" of a food. When I eat chicken I feel not hungry for a long time. At least 4 hours.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
