Yup..........If you were any other way it would not be normal.....

Don't do it though unless you are not ready for a big change in your life!

Your on the road to big and better things and improvements to your life and health...Not the easy root though as the surgery is a tool not a fix it all now.............Lots of work to do and lots of fixing your head to do.....

It is so worth it....but right now panic is so normal...All the what ifs!!!!!!!!!!

You'll be fine!!!!K

Thanks for responding. I am just an emotional wreck and really need the extra support. I know this is something I need to do, just scared of the unknown. I think it's mainly because I am NOT required to be on any pre op diet. I think I'm going to do a three day liquid diet anyway .....

each dr is different (and insurance) on what they want you to do...a liquid diet certainly won't hurt anything! Anxiety over surgery is normal...any surgery! But consider this is laproscopic, so that's better for you; and the overall benefits after the surgery is done... I was so anxious about getting it done, I couldn't wait until the day arrived!!! No regrets, best thing I have ever done for me! I have RA, so I could barely move prior to surgery, now I can walk most distances without a cane! It gets better every day... don't get me wrong, the surgery is a tool and you do still have to work at it; but with this tool, it makes it so much better!

Good luck, we are here for you! <3

Don't freak out. The surgery is not bad. The wait was the worse part for me. When I woke up, I keep waiting for them to start my surgery! Then they said I was done and already back in my room. In an hour, I got up and walked the wing of the hall where I was. It really was not bad. I am thankful every day now that I did it!!

I had my surgery at 7:15am on Monday and was home by noon on Tuesday. Every hour I feel a little better. I am up to 4oz per hour now and have pain well controlled. I am seeing already that I am going to love my sleeve. I am amazed that I'm not hungry and the smell of food doesn't affect me. The commercials that used to make me drool are just pictures now. It's like I'm now immune to it all. I hope this lasts. I will have great control of my eating habits if it does!

My surgery is on Monday January 27th too! I've been on a liquid diet for 10 days now. It really makes for a safer surgery because it shrinks your liver.

I've struggled but I keep my eye on the prize of sitting on the losers bench. Please keep me posted on how you are doing you two.

Have you joined any local support groups so you can meet other patients that are one, two, 5 years out? That has helped me tremendously. Great advice and great fun.

I'm sitting in the hospital right now waiting to do all the pre-admin stuff...talk about freaking out!! I too am so scared. I am honestly not afraid of the lifestyle change as I've been ok with the low cal diet and excersise routine in the past. I just would loose about 30-40 lbs and never go beyond there...

What's making me so scared is the actual surgery itself. I've never had a surgery before....I'm scared of being put to sleep, not waking up, complications, pain!! I don't know if these things are too taboo to talk about here but...I too am needing a little support and encouragement and I so understand where you are coming from.

Had my surgery on Monday. I was scared too. I had never been in the hospital for anything other than outpatient stuff. It turned out to be easy. It was over before I could really even think about it. No trouble with anesthesia or going under. It felt like a really good nap. I was home by noon on Tuesday. I have done great. You will be fine too. Just relax and let it happen. Congrats!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
