Lap band surgery went well. I hardly felt any pain other than by my incision. Didn't take pain meds. Today is day 6 I'm a teacher and went back to work. I feel sore on my left side and feel quick little stabs/pinches and then it leaves. They make me cringe for like 15-20 seconds and then back to normal. I've been walking slower and am more reserved in my movements today. Meanwhile the other days I was doing great. I'm a worry wart. Tell me I'm fine and this is normal :-)

I had something similar...it was by my port...my doctor just said he didnt feel it was anything but the muscle getting used to/healing where they sewed the port too. It went away in a few days. But was triggered by the way i moved. Hasnt been back since.

Thats just my experience...call your doc if you are concerned...they are the best ones to answer your ????'s.

Good luck and let us know!

Thank you for responding to me. My husband is a dr and he said the same thin although he isn't versed that well in lap band lingo. Just wanted someone's perspective on the issue. It feels like a full pain on my left side with a few sudden pinches sprinkled in. Snow storm in NY and no one is on call. It's not that bad. I will call dr tomorrow.

I dont remember having any full on pain...just soreness from healing but the prickly pinches were enough to make me sit up straight and say oh wow....ouch!! Im on long island...snow here is CRAZY!!!!!

Lucky you...a doctor right in the house...LOL. I had Fielding's wife, Dr. Ren as my surgeon....I'm sure you will be able to speak to someone tomorrow. I'm here in the city, in the West Village and there's plenty of snow but I hear the plows so it should be OK to get around tomorrow. Gonna do a meet up on February 8th...hope you both can attend. LisaCaron is coming up with some ideas for where to meet near Penn Station since most of the interest is from those in the suburbs.

That sounds very cool. I would like to go to a meet up and support group. I heard great things about dr. Ren. I had a follow up in the 17th and he said it was fine. I'm just a crazy worry wart! I usually work until 3 so something after that time would be nice.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
