What foods do you find most filling and sleeve friendly?

Recommended Posts

I moved a bit slower through the food stages due to a stricture and an awesome ability to foam and up chuck regularly. I'm 8 months in and I've found a small selection of foods that work for me. I am starting to have the ability to eat more in volume and I don't want to get into the slider food habit.

What foods are the most filling for you and that "stick" the longest?

I've found that tilapia is SOOO filling and sticks with me the longest. I can only eat 3-4 ounces and I feel full for at least 4 hours, so full I'm unable to drink anything for still least two hours.

I'm also stuffed if I eat a scrambled egg with a pinch of cheese. This is my perfect food before working out because I'm full without being sluggish and it keeps me from feeling light-headed after a good cardio class.

What are your top go to foods to keep the hungries away?

I'm kind of struggling these days on the food front. For some reason I'm retaining a lot of Water (not in line with my cycle and I'm not overindulging on the salt - labs pending) and the hunger has resurfaced in a big way. What used to satiate me 2 months ago seems rather small these days, but I'm trying my best to stave off the overeating by measuring everything. eggs and soy goods aren't super filling for me like they used to be. Now give me 4oz of steak or lamb chops for lunch and I won't think about food for the rest of the afternoon! Shrimp I find fairly filling as well.

Lipstick, I'm really in awe of you and your progress!

I don't have an issue eating anything. Talapia is one of my favorites. costco has a basil topped frozen one that is out of this world good!

One of my favorites though is A Dannon fit and light greek yogurt, it has 80 calories only 6 sugars and 12 grams of Protein. If I don't feel like a Protein shake in the morning (I still love them!) I will have a fit and light with a 50 calorie string cheese. That gives me 120 calories and getting 19grams of Protein. That is a great bang for the buck. If I am hungry, a yogurt with a few slices of a honey crisp apple and the Fiber in the apple really fills me up.

I only need to wait about 30 minutes no matter what I eat before I can drink. Even steak or heavy things. Not sure if that is good or bad but after that I can attack the Turvis Tumbler and have at the water!

So, what does your stricture feel like LL? My nurse told me a couple weeks ago she thought I may have a slight stricture..but said it wasnt a huge deal.

I can't eat much for solids...when I do its a few bites and then hiccup time. I can do the soft stuff like cottage cheese or yogurt...but no more than like 2oz at a time. Most meats its 1 oz and done. cheese is 1oz and done. I get in so little that I don't have much room for any veggie.

If I eat more of anything I get the slimes and maybe barf.

I've had great weight loss but zero variety. Not complaining tho...I'm happy with the results so far. Just sometimes crave variety or maybe veggies.

Exactly that! Bigger bites got really stuck, it was painful when I didn't chew well, I would foam and vomit very easily. pills got stuck, I productive burped regularly. I still have issues, but it's pretty much self corrected. It will stretch on it's own.

Steak is the most filling thing to me. Salmon, shrimp and for some reason hearty Soups, like beef barley.

Excuse my ignorance but what is a stricture?

Hey there,

I'm two and a half weeks out and able to have soft meats and mushie; basically anything soft after I annihilate it in my food processor. I find that sweet potato mash with a little agave Syrup (low glycemic)and pumpkin spice keeps me full :) (complex carb, low glycemic index and fiber!) Another good one is tuna salad with avocado (8oz is 13-15 g of protein)

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
