Should I call or wait?

Recommended Posts

I'm having to restart with a new hospital after two years of trying to get approved and going through three appeals.

I submitted my packet last Monday and talked to my coordinator Friday who said that she was going to review everything and then call me to set up my appointments.

They haven't called. I'm just wondering if something is wrong, if they don't think I'm a good candidate or is this normal?

I just want to know either way but I don't want to bug them so much that they think I'm crazy.

I would call. I am sure they are used to anxious people calling for a status update. Good Luck!

I called and the person said I needed to talk to my coordinator about the next steps. Coordinator emailed me to call her so I left a voice mail.

She said that I needed to get an assessment. I don't know what that is.

I've already done all the testing, is it maybe a prescreen before going to a consult?

don't you just love it when people leave messages like that...the assessment might be the therapist; but I guess you have to continue with the phone tag game until you find out for sure... :(

Hang in there. Keep going! Keep your head down and run their drill. It is all worth it. I had my 50 th bday yesterday. I was done on May 12013. I am at goal after I have lost 127 lbs. I am now where I was 22years ago. I have gotten rid of all my type 2 meds and several more that where related to it. My kids are happier because I am. And I will tell you I changed my relationship with food but I do not feel that I live a life and don't get to eat great stuff. I still get the great stuff just not as much! The fat wall is gone. Come on girl climb over yours and come out with the rest of us. I know it's hard to get through the system. I had all 6 months with a NUT done and then my primary doctor changed medical groups and I had to do that part all over again because they won't accept the first one. Was not fun but I did it. We have your back and will be there for you!

Thank you so much. I have to say ok getting WLS surgery brain again. This is a good and bad thing. Good because the process is moving but bad because I get spacey and can't concentrate at work thinking about the possibilities.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
