Hi All,

I am in the pre-op stage of my diet. We have to drink 3 Protein drinks per day. The one I bought was awful. What did you find tobe the best tasting?

Thanks

~B

I am allergic to milk so my experiences are with the Nature's own Soy complete and Jay Robb egg white Proteins. I love the Nature's own in vanilla and chocolate. The Jay Robb vanilla and chocolate tasted pretty gross to me after taste wise. Now the Jay Robb unflavored is really good in warm foods or to mix in things. 8)

I've only tried one kind and fortunately I really like it: EAS whey Protien. chocolate. It was on a list of recommended Protein shakes my surgeon gave me and is available at Target (well, it was at my Target in MN anyway). Hope you find one you're happy with!

I did it the easy way and got Slim Fast low carb pre-made in bottles, I found the chocolate very good; they told me my tastes may change after the surgery, and that was one of them (along with carbmaster yogurt)...couldn't take it after surgery...or I should say, it took a LOOOONG time to go down after surgery (had to use up what I had)

My doc wanted a Protein isolate (I think because it's absorbed better, but don't hold me to that). With that in mind, I tried a few and ended up with powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury - I get the chocolate Splendor (tastes like chocolate milk), Vanilla and strawberry.

I'm lucky and have liked most of the stuff I have tried.

Like: Syntrax Matrix (milk chocolate, Peanut Butter cookie, banana cream, orange cream, strawberry cream), Syntrax nectar (many flavors, esp. Roadside Lemonade, lemon tea, Twisted cherry, fuzzy navel), unjury chocolate splendor, Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard 100% whey (vanilla ice cream, caramel toffee fudge, chocolate malt, strawberry banana), Chike (all of their flavors but especially coffee and banana Magic).

Do not like: Bariatric fusion, Bariatric Advantage, Click, Protizyme, About Time, Tera's Whey.

It's really an individual thing. I recommend getting lots of samples (multiples of each sample) to find something you like.

I also really like the BSN brand Protein powders but their numbers were not acceptable for my program in terms of calories/carbs/protein.

I didn't like any of the powders I tried. I stuck with the chocolate Premier Protein RTD. There is 30g Protein, 1g sugar. And I also thought the strawberry muscle milk was actually yummy.

I think I am allergic to Protein. Ever since I started drinking my Protein Shakes I got a real bad rash. It is the only think different I am having or doing .

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
