kyleebean 209 Posted January 21, 2014 I use the EAS carb control and I haven't had any problems with them. I can't drink milk based anything.....
staceyp 29 Posted January 21, 2014 I am 5 weeks too. Everyones plans are so different. What are you allowed to eat and what have you tried? If you allowed denser foods??? I have found that has helped me and I am down to only 1 shake a day to boost Protein up from 34-40 grams from food to the additional 30 or so I need. It is also more satisfying, allows me to actually start to learn and feel what full is for me and keeps me full longer. Its the water/liquids I struggle with. I feel like I am drinking all day and I only top out around 40 oz or so.... 1 BabySheldon reacted to this
Jhealan 62 Posted January 21, 2014 Almost 4 wks out here...also struggling with liquids. Here is my question... I didn't drink 64 oz before surgery, is it really that important that I drink that much now?

Not only will it help keep you hydrated, it will help keep hunger at bay. I drink Propel Zero since surgery - I cannot stomach plain Water any more for some reason. I start my day drinking 17 ounces of Water - I just sip until it's gone. That gets a good start to the day.
VSG AJH 499 Posted January 21, 2014 Almost 4 wks out here...also struggling with liquids. Here is my question... I didn't drink 64 oz before surgery, is it really that important that I drink that much now? The Water is critically important. You should've been drinking a minimum of 64 oz. before surgery, and you should be drinking that now. Remember, all decaffeinated non-carbonated fluids count towards that goal, so a serving of broth, a Decaf coffee, a glass of Crystal Lite. It all counts. Proper Fluid intake revs up your metabolism, and dehydration is awful.
gettingslim 86 Posted January 21, 2014 Im over 6 months out and became dehydrated on Saturday. I am finally regaining hydration amd today is Tuesday. Liquids are incredibly important.
rbtnln 81 Posted January 21, 2014 Go to GNC or a local health food store. Tell them you're a sleeve patient. They will direct you to the whey Protein section. Use 1/2 Water and 1/2 skim milk (or almond milk - even better) to mix your shake with. It will help. You also may be to the point where you need more solid Protein. Maybe try some deli shaved meats and/or low fat cottage cheese. I found the Atkins shakes nutritionally were not good. My doctor recommended that protein content should be at least 50% higher than carb content (i.e. 14 grams of carbs you should have 28 grams or more of protein). Eat slowly. I read somewhere "Chew for 22" and it has really helped a lot! Chew every bite of food at least 22 times. It slows you down and also gets the food small enough so that it doesn't get stuck in your stomach. You'll learn what works and what doesn't. I promise! I'm allowed tuna soft mushy meats basically sandwich meat soft veggies mashed potato baked potato Soups Beans sf ice cream and pudding cream of wheat. What about you? I'm just having a hard time choking down those shakes! And I'm the same with liquids I usually get about 40 in. It's helped I'm using a straw again(nut said not to) but I've had no problems soooo oops /: I just couldn't live without it!
Care1175 58 Posted January 22, 2014 My doctor said that if u drink a lot of Protein Shakes it will cause diarrhea. I had to switch my whey shake to an egg white Protein Shake and then I was able to tolerate them better. The brand is called Jay's. It is also lactose free. 1 CoffeeGrinDR reacted to this

Koofka 59 Posted January 22, 2014 I had really good luck with the Isopure powders and just mixing those with Water. Also the premade Premier shakes from costco. Some of the Vegan shakes I tried tasted like drinking a dirty branch. Somewhat convinced now that Vegans are some sort of self-hurt club.
