So, I finally got it. Surgery was Wednesday 1 -15-14. Went great I was walking that day. I am now on a full liquid diet barely any pain whatsoever. I have lost 32 lbs since Jan 1. So far going great. I will suggest a Bari-bear or a cough buddy stomach pillow. And definitley easy on shoes. I chose my sanooks and they worked great.

Congrats!!! I'm glad you're doing so well!!! I need to get one of those bears or a small firm pillow. Especially for a 3hr ride home.

Most important for that 3 hr ride is to stop often and get out and walk some. Sitting long periods is not good. The walking will help ward off DVTs. (clots)

I still sleep in my recliner after four weeks, I found it was much easier to get up and around on my own. It hurt to lay on my side in bed and to engage my core muscles to scootch to the edge. I also had a pillow to squeeze if I had to cough or laugh,

I'm on my couch. I have been since I've got home. Honestly right now I feel kinda guilty. I read others post with troubles and whatnot but I feel great. I'm a huge fan of hobby grade radio control cars. I just ordered a new electric so I'd have something to chase during my walks.

Definitely shouldn't feel guilty about not feeling worse. I'm happy for ya :)

Mine was day before you. I am in bed early today but walked over 5000 steps in grocery store and mall. Down 9 pounds in past week, plus lost 5 pounds of IV fluids. Fastest weight loss ever. Go team!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
