working out=hungrier

Recommended Posts

OR but have to hold myself accountable. I have been feeling discouraged since I haven't been losing the lbs like I thought I would. I have had some nsvs though so that is motivating me a little. But the past week has been a bad week food wise. ( I haven't hit my green zone yet so I don't have a ton of restrictions) start my support classes on Thursday. So hopefully that will help.

I have definitely noticed that I have been a lot hungrier since I have been running regularly. I know Protein and Water will help curb hunger. But it isn't enough to stop me, the hunger is still there. Does anyone know how long this will last? Or have any other advice how to curb this hunger?

I'm sure it will pass....I know for me, and much of what I have read, exercising curbs your appetite, as well as handling stress, and improving an overall well being...

Be sure you have a Water bottle with you at all times and drink in between sets, etc...

I have a vigorous workout, and go through 32 oz.'a of flavored water easy....probably sweat most of it out but that is the point...

Also, my routine, I always work out first thing in the morning on a empty stomach...before eating anything that is...I want to burn stored fat rather than burn what I just ate....also, after my workout, my body wants something so I always have a high Protein "Recovery" Shake"...

Ditto B52. I work out on a empty stomach, drinking 40 oz Water. On my way home from the gym I eat a Protein Bar, when I get home I make a very healthy Protein packed Breakfast, usually egg beaters with string cheese. This usually helps alot!!! Also after working out you dont want to wait to long before you get some source of protein in, I must have a protein bar as my recovery workout snack until I can get home to make breakfast.

when i (walk or do my step aerobics) i find i am hungry afterwards...i am assuming because i need to be refueled (gassed up by protein) as i was using my energy by doing my exercise...

seems normal to me......i would say eat when hungry and eat Protein first esp since you are a runner (and stay hydrated)........GREAT job on the loss and exercise and running. YOU go :)

You're in "Bandster Hell" till you get enough fills for the band to work it's magic. Your band opening(stoma) is still very open and it's easy to eat too much. For some reason this phase seems like we're hungrier than before surgery.

B-52 used to have a quote on his signature that said: "Until there's restriction, it's just another diet"..... So true!

I'm not hungry in the mornings so I'm not eating until well after I've worked out -- though I do drink my cranberry Water and have tea. I wait until mid-morning or noonish and then have a Protein smoothie with lots of fruit, flax seeds, etc. It is an event. In the old days I used to feel like I had to eat or my metabolism wouldn't be fired up or blah, blah, blah. I have abandoned all of that thinking now. My body doesn't think it's starving -- it thinks it is time to burn off all that stored up fat!

If you were just banded in December you are in a time that is difficult for most people. Hunger has returned and it's probably not time for a fill yet. This is the time to get used to everything and it's really wonderful that you are doing so well exercising. I think that is the magic ingredient to this whole process. Once you get your band at the right fill your hunger will dim and you won't be battling that. Just know you are on your way and you're doing beautifully. Best wishes!

I've read recently in several articles that high intensity interval training curbs appetite vs steady state workout increases appetite. Here's one of those articles http://blog.womenshealthmag.com/scoop/appetite-control/

Personally, i notice that after a walk i will want a snack, but after 60min spin class with climbs and sprints, last thing i want to do is eat.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
