HeatherRenea-RNY 0 Posted March 31, 2014 I had gastric bypass surgery almost 3 years ago well it will be 3 years in june. I'm beating myself up now because I haven't been taking my supplement the way I should have been. I am on my 3rd bottle of Multivitamins if that tells you how few I took these past few years. Haven't been able to tolerate Protein Shakes. I recently found out I'm lactose intolerant. I'm B12 deficient. Iron deficient. Pretty much deficient in everything. I haven't felt good at all lately (prob for the past year) I just haven't felt normal. A friend of my cousins recently passed away from malnutrition and not changing her lifestyle. That was my wake up call. I'm scared that I may have fibromyalgia. I have all the signs and symptoms. My advice to everyone is do exactly what the doctor tells you too. I regret being lazy stubborn and hard headed about my supplements.
James Marusek 5,244 Posted April 22, 2014 When my blood work came back from the 6 months post-op testing. It showed that I was Iron deficient. They prescribed additional Iron supplements which I have since started to take. Even though I had 2 hour separated between iron (in Flintstone vitamins) and my Calcium supplements, I suspect this was the problem area. I had started to drink milk as part of my Protein drinks and I suspect the Calcium in the milk was causing the iron deficiency. So I moved all my iron supplements to the end of my day; just before bedtime. I should have the next batch of blood test results soon.
