Bad habits are hard to break

Recommended Posts

Soooo I was sleeved on June of the past year and so far I lost like 90 ish pounds and still have 90 to go but it's just so hard to stay on track. I guess I really was never was on track because I never did the Protein Shakes and just ate small amounts of whatever . And now my weight loss is at a halt for obvious reasons and I need to know how to get back on track ! Like I can't find a Protein Shake I like there's one I kinda can tolerate but it doesn't fill me ! I'm also losing like all my hair ...ugh the struggle is real here ! Any advice ?

Have you tried GNC whey Protein ...no flavor 24g per scoop. I use to put it with iced Decaf coffee, ,

I fell into the same thing. I worked hard to cut out most carbs not in a Protein bar or shake unless they were raw (fruits/veggies) and made sure to hit my Protein marks plus every day as well as Water. It's not easy and takes work but we knew when we started this wouldn't be easy. Also started incorporating more into my workouts. Just go back to basics and do what works best for you!

We got this!

You don't have to drink Protein shakes at this point. Especially since they are not filling to you. Instead get at least 60 gram of Protein through chewing food this will fill you up. Dense protein like chicken, tuna, lean pork chops, lean cuts of beef, turkey, shrimp etc. This is one thing my surgeon recommends is that once you get past soft foods, most of your nutrition should be from foods you chew not drink or even soft foods. This will make you feel fuller longer. I was eating alot of greek yogurt, cottage cheese, Protein drinks and that is what he recommended to me. Also remember the rule about not drinking 45 minutes before or after your food this will help with restriction. Lastly, if you don't already start tracking all you eat in my fitness pal. Best of luck.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
