I'm having a strange chest pressure sensation that's hard to describe. Nothing that I can associate with pain, just a constant and dull pressure. It started yesterday and I haven't been able to figure out what is going on. I can eat and drink with no problems, so I know it is not a stuck episode, but I am hiccupping more than usual. Has anyone had something like this happen to them? I do have my monthly visit with my surgeon tomorrow for a fill, so I am going to bring it up at my appointment, but any remedies or solutions ... heck, even an explanation would be helpful.

A little more info about me. Banded Oct 30th. Have had 2 fills since my original fill at surgery. 4.6 cc in a 10 cc band. Can't really blame anything in particular that I ate yesterday because sticking to my band approved choices. Have chewed some papaya enzymes thinking it would help, but no relief at this point. Really at a loss.

Thanks in advance for any replies! Love my band family!!!

If you had a stuck episode you could have caused enough trauma to cause some inflammation? That's all I got. Definitely discuss with your doctor.

Definitely discuss it with your doc even if you find a remedy...

I suggest some hot tea. I had a stuck episode once already and the next day I felt terrible. My throat made me still feel sick and lots of pressure in the chest even though I could eat it drink still. Docs office suggested liquid diet for 24 hours and the hot tea really soothed the throat /esophagus muscles. Hope you feel better soon!

Definitely check with your dr.

But I feel chest pressure when I'm full. It is a sign to stop eating. I've also felt chest pressure during a fill. The dr took a tiny bit out and it went away. Very strange I know.

Hope that helps.

I get muscle spasms in my back that present as chest pressure and even chest pain. Are you drinking enough fluids? Standing a lot? Try a heating pad on your back. Couldn't hurt. Definitely talk to the doctor about it.

Update on the pressure: At my doctors visit, the nurse suspected I had experienced a stuck episode and it left some swelling. Since I was still able to eat and drink, and not in any distress, I did not get a fill or unfill but waited to see and within 2 days the pressure was gone.

Earlier this week I received a fill, and definitely have noticed a different restriction. I have had 2 stuck episodes, just in the past 2 days, and I can relate it to the feeling of pressure I noticed and wrote about originally. I'm having to retrain myself how to eat, smaller bites especially.

Hope this thread can help someone out there.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
