saddened and frustrated

So today was my one month check up and I gained four pounds. I'm so crusted and sad. I know I've lost because my clothes are loose.

I am sorry that your weigh in didn't go the way you wanted it. I have to ask though how many calories and carbs a day are you getting? You said your clothes were getting looser so that indicates that you are losing even if the scale isn't showing it. Did you take your measurements before surgery? If so, measure yourself and compare the numbers. If not, measure yourself for the next comparison.

Take it easy. It could be Water weight. Just keep doing what you are doing, the weight will come off. Maybe you could reduce sodium, increase water, and walk a bit more. It will come off, be patient.

I'm sure some of the gain is still Fluid and swelling. I haVe had gains that I quickly lost after. Your body goes into starvation mode where it stalls on dropping weight. It's a survival thing. Keep positive! And remember you ate weighed with clothes on. If your clothes are fitting bigger and you feel better that is all that matters.

Your results will show in numbers before you know it.

R u eating salty foods. I gained one pound one day and I cut my salt intake and the next day I lost 2. I was eating smoked salmon. ..1-2 ounces .. However it has such a high salt content. Also cottage cheese has so high salt content. So be aware of Water retention. . Eating at restaurants..even the small bit we can eat..has plenty of salt.

Use myfitnesspal to log in your food. It gives u the sodium count for each food you enter. I love this website ..it keeps my calorie and Protein count..goal 800 calories and 65 grams of Protein. I think the daily sodium intake recommended is less than 2500 per day.

Is this a different scale? Not all scales read the same way. Also, remember, jeans and sweaters weigh a lot! I hope it's something this simple. Please know that you will get over this!

Are you exercising more? Muscle weighs more than fat so you can be losing fat and gaining muscles. Please pay attention to the clothes, not the scale.

It is the same scale at my surgeons office. I have been waking a little but nothing I think that is causing muscle gains. I thought having a husband who went through this would make it easier but honestly I think it's harder because he could eat solids at 10 days. I'm struggling with some of those. He has an office job where he sits all day and can drink at will. I'm a substitute teacher so I eat at different times every day and am with a different age group every day.

Sometimes I feel like he is sabotaging me. I know u aren't eating sugar but u have to try this, even after I said I didn't want any.

I have been having some difficulty with Constipation off and on as well as making my Protein and Water the past few days. Hubby thinks it may be "that time of the month" but since my hysterectomy in June I have no idea, I kept my ovaries. I could be retaining water but I was looking forward to a decrease in the scale. Set myself up for disappointment.

On another note, it seems most people are told how many calories to have each day. I haven't gotten direction about watching calories. I am on solid foods but usually have at least two Protein Shakes a day to supplement my food as my doctor wants 90 grams of Protein and 90 ounces of Fluid a day. No one else seems to be taking that much in.

Okay so I was really upset about the scale on Monday. Well today I could do something I have not been able to do in years. I can wear my wedding ring. I have to remember the scale isn't everything

I'm seven weeks post-op, and my doctor's office wouldn't give me a calorie range either. They just told to to eat to restriction, no more than 3oz meat and 1oz veg per meal. At least four opportunities a day to eat. Minimum 60g protein, and minimum 64g Water daily. From the first day I could take in protein, I was taking in 85g. I average that now, and from time to time, I get up to 100-105g/day. Based on info I've seen around here, I've somewhat imposed a calorie restriction, and I find I take in about 850 calories for 85g. protein, and I work to limit myself to 60g carbs daily.. I'm losing regularly and I haven't stalled yet, so my nutritionist is good with what I'm doing. Tracking on My Fitness Pal is very helpful as calories really can be quite sneaky.

Are you on solid food yet? I'm wondering how you fit in that much Protein with so free calories. I am supposed to have 90 grams of protein and 90 ounces of Fluid daily.

90 ounces of water! I would have to get a job as a bathroom attendant! On good days I drink 48 ounces. I told my NUT pre-surgery I could have been someone's science experiment because I went YEARS with only about 4 ounces of Water a day used to wash down medication.

My NUT specifically said she was not going to give a calorie limit, at least up until the solid food stage which I won't have specifics on for about another 10 days.

You can learn a lot from the forums about what other NUTs are recommending and use that as a guideline.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
