A picture is worth 1,000 words

My son had a sleepover last night so I decided to take these crazy lil ones on a nice walk. My son snapped an impromptu pic of me and I almost started bawling! I could not believe my eyes. Who was this woman in this picture?! She certainly cannot be me?! Don't cameras add 10 pounds?! How on earth could I possibly look so lean and fit?! Tears of joy! Screaming with happiness. We're our own worst enemy! Finally the outside is starting to match the inside.

I hope I look anywhere NEAR that good when I get to 8 mos post-op! BTW, my start and goal weights are very similar to yours, and I'm 5'3" tall ... but I think you're a we-e-e-e-e bit younger than my 60 years.

And you're even in the DFW area - another thing in common! Who did your surgery? Dr. Jeffrey Henke did my sleeve at Medical City Dallas Hospital.

Girl you can do this!!!! My doc was Dr. Jayaseelan. <3 him !!! Medical City too. I'm sooo pumped! We can all find our healthy, fit, inner goddess!!!! We are in it to win it! It's our turn to turn heads, run marathons, wear anything off the rack, be confident and beautiful!!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
