Some yummy foods that I have discovered...

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

Thought I would share a few items that have made my lap band journey much easier. I find these things easy to tolerate as long as I eat slowly and portion my food appropriately. I try to stay under 1000 calories a day and am 6 weeks post-op and have had one fill. Hope you enjoy!

  • Morningstar Farms Parmesan Ranch Chik Patties: So good! 170 calories and perfectly sized. 10 grams of Protein.
  • Morningstar Farms Sausage Patties: My favorite! So good with mustard for breakfast! Takes just like real sausage and has 160 calories for 2 patties and 20 grams of protein!
  • Morningstar Farms Bacon Strips: 2 strips is 60 calories and has 2 grams of Protein. Very crunchy!
  • Gorton's Grilled Fish Fillets: Lemon Pepper or Cajun Blackened. 1 fillet is 100 calories and about 3.5 ozs. They are seriously good. I eat them almost every day. 1 fillet has 16 grams of protein and is very east to digest.
  • Yoplait Scooby-Doo Rogurt (Portable Yogurt): I get the Strawberry/Fruit Punch kind and put them in the freezer. They make a really good snack and have just 80 calories for 1 tube. They are so good.
  • Hostess cupcakes 100-calorie packs: They come in carrot cake with creamcheese icing, chocalate with chocolate icing, and yellow cake with chocolate icing. They are not the healthiest things in the world but are only 100 calories and seriously help with the sweets cravings. You get three little cupcakes (each is about the size of a 50-cent piece). Eat very slowly because they can be a little tough to digest.

I hope you enjoy! Let me know if you have any recommendations or stuff that has helped make your Lap Band journey easier.

Yeah! Those are good, too! But, you can only have like two of them because they are higher in calories for some reason. I love them though.

I love the morningstar farms chicken nuggets...with some tartar sauce to help them slide down. Great Protein source. I also use the sausage links...used to love the sausage patties but have been afraid to try them since banding...I'll have to try now.

We dont have any of those products here, probably similar ones - but here a sausage is a long thing in a casing that you barbecue, the only "sausage" similar to what you're talking about is from McDonalds.

I've become addicted to gourmet yogurts - the thick greek kind with pureed fruit in the bottom of the tub. Oh yummmmmmmmmmm. Full fat, I cant bear low fat yogurt. They're a meal but so easy to eat.

Yes those Morningstar farms buffalo wings are great. I am a vegetarian (weird but true...a fat vegetarian, go figure) and eat lots of fake meat the benefit is soy high in Protein. If you can tolerate the sausage, (I can't) then you will probably like this stuff its great- in the produce section is Smart Chili in pouches, wonderful.

We have lots of sausages.. but yes, our Breakfast sausage is a fatty greasy thing of yummy goodness. We do have the Breakfast sausage links that are much like normal sausage, but tastes like our breakfast sausage 'patties'... I've never been to a butcher, well.. I guess grocery stores 'fresh meats' are from their butcher, so that might count.

Another sausage we have, which I think would probably be like yours, and my favorite.. Are the big meal sausages.. Bratwursts are my favorite, grilled on the grill.. mm..with saurkraut and mustard.

I'm definitely not a vegetarian, I love meat! I'll have to check out those brands though, the chicken filets sound good, but is it fake meat?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
