Fave comfort food?

White cheddar cheese puffs, ya know the ones that dissolve in your mouth....stay away from the cheese puffs!

OMG, speaking of cheese puffs, Utz makes the most awesome, melt in your mouth, yummy cheese balls. I can't stay away from the darn things even though they are bad for me. And, they come in this huge barrell thing, so it is taking my family forever to eat through them and rid me of the temptation!

Cranberry orange scones!

I use to make these every Sunday morning for the family, but since I have been banded, I have stopped....

I also miss pancakes!

A huge soft burrito filled with rice, REFRIED Beans (i know, i know), loaded with cheese and salsa. I'm embarassed to say over a one year period i ate sometimes 2 extremely large burritos from a place back east (no longer around) called Burrito Brothers. I would go to two different locations so they wouldn't know what a pig i was - I had the most stressful job working round the clock and survived on those buggers -

i'm sure you can guess what happened after that year.....

Gained almost 60lbs!

I wouldn't eat a dry pancake----but with Syrup, I can eat them just fine!!! Actually that is not true...I eat ONE just fine---not them, as in plural!!! One is my limit, but I do it occasionally with a side of bacon or sausage. Syrup makes the difference!

Ultimate comfort meal for me would be chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes, both smothered in gravy and some fresh bread. But alas, I will never eat it again :) But I think I got enough of it to last a lifetime before surgery :(

Before being banded I loved salads! <snip>

Are you not able to eat salads now? My dietician said I could start, but just to make sure I got my Protein in 1st. I have not tried it banded yet, but a salad was my favorite way to get in the veggies (ranch-covered anything works for me). I only heard good things about salads with the Band pre-op...have you had trouble with them?!?!?

Nearly all my comfort foods are white & most involve yeast! Soft rolls, warm pretzels, Irish soda bread, quick breads with cream cheese, mashed potatoes, an elbow noodle & meatsauce casserole passed down from my grandma, and emmmmm a fried egg sandwich with mayo on white bread! Thankfully there's one comfort food I can still have with the band... chicken casserole (with campbell Soup & ritz cracker topping)!!

Lets see....

I go here MAYBE once or twice a year, but I love the Coldstone Creamery.

Mashed potatoes (especially my moms), French onion soup... that's all I can think of at the moment..

Bitteroldhag,

Would you mind posting your recipe for the thin crust pizza you make? I would love to try it!

I was typing this out and hit something wrong and it went away. But I'll try again. I get the cheap ready-made pizza dough stuff in the blue envelope from Walmart (It makes about a medium regular pizza) and mix it up with some warm Water. Then I wait around until it rises and divide it in two. I freeze half of it and roll out the other half. I roll it VERY thin (about 1/8 inch or less) and it comes out to about an 8" Pizza Crust. I crimp the sides of the crust and put on some bought pizza sauce though one can make one's own sauce. I don't like a lot of sauce so I skimp on that. Then I put on vegetables or whatever and put on some mozzarella and bake it at 415 degrees for about 15 minutes. I have a very high powered stove so you need to check your own stove to see how it works. It turns out very well and doesn't involve making the crust from scratch. I find that I can eat about half of this pizza. I cut it in small pieces and chew and chew. It's good. I love pizza. I have never liked hamburgers since I don't trust other people's ground meat. I have had too many incidents of foreign objects in my ground meat. But I have loved pizza from my first introduction to it. Hope this helps. It's easy and doesn't take long to make. You can make the whole dough recipe for the family. If you roll it out thin you can make a big pizza, but if you want a super large pizza, mix up two envelopes of the dough. I can't make bread to save my life, but I can make this pizza dough. Amazing, really.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
