micphd 7 Posted January 20, 2014 I am wondering who else was like this - I am 6 pays post op, feel great, down 35lbs from preop liquids diet, and now I can drink more than the 4-6 ounces an hour before feeling full. If I don't watch I can easily get 8-12 in before I feel full. Anyone else like this?
Recycled 2,182 Posted January 20, 2014 I am also still on liquids and I haven't really found a restriction on the liquids. Occasionally I feel some pressure if I gulp, but I can put away 12oz. fluids rather quickly. Soup too. My assumptions are the liquids pretty much go straight thru without much if any restriction. I'm sure puree and foods will be very different.
gomekast 559 Posted January 20, 2014 If your only 6 days post op then your able to drink like that because your sleeve is still numb from surgery. Measure out everything religiously until you feel the numbness wear off. And you will feel it in coming weeks.
RJ'S/beginning 5,358 Posted January 20, 2014 Your flap at the bottom of your sleeve does not close without dense food being taken in..So you are right! Your liquid is going straight into your small intestine where most food is digested and then moves on to the large intestine...You are still taking in the calories and are using them to fuel your body....Careful to follow your teams advice as far as amounts.. You stomach is healing and this is a dangerous time to be plying it with tons of liquids so fast..There is no scar tissue surrounding the staples yet that give it strength to hold your nourishment yet. Sip sip sip and take in what you are supposed to it will lesson any complications that can happen at this stage.... 1 whosaysyoucant reacted to this
