I think some of my gas pain went into my shoulder and neck. Does this pain feel like a pinched nerve by any chance because that is how it's feeling. Very painful. I probably shouldn't have done this but I took a tsp of liquid motrin. Probably a no-no taking ibuprofin but I had no choice! Tylenol doesn't work for me. This pain in the neck is a pain in the neck!

Left shoulder pain is from irritation to your diaphram. The diaphram doesn't have the ability to present pain within itself so it presents in the left shoulder. The band rubs against it during surgery as they put it in and later when you are swollen. I belive for most people the band often rests against the diaphram. A heating pad works great.

berry,

I had horrendous gas pains that were in my shoulder and under my left breast. I thought I was having a heart attack! Gas-X and a heating pad did not help. Walking was the only thing that relieved the pain. I would literally walk through my house for hours in the middle of the night to relieve the gas pains. I ended up taking two additional days off work because of this.

But it only lasted a few days and then just went away. I hope you're feeling better soon.

I didn't start getting shoulder pain until yesterday, 5 days after surgery. The heating pad has helped some. I really need a man with strong hands to give me a neck and shoulder rub. :girl_hug: LOL

Walking really does make a big difference. I hope you feel better soon.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
