snowangel 0 Posted March 23, 2007 My surgery in Monday! I have an interview 6 hours away on Thursday!!!!!! I don't know if I will be able to do this. I am 22 and healthy so I am HOPING I will be well enough to go. How did everyone else feel 3 days after surgery? Enough to sit in a car for a long drive? I won't be driving obviously. What do you think? Thanks, Jackie
ReneBean 3 Posted March 23, 2007 If someone else is driving - you can probably swing it. By day four, I felt that I could have gone to work at my desk job. If you CAN push the interview back, that would be best though. Some folks hop right up after surgery and go shopping. Others languor in pain for a week. It's such an individual thing. Good Luck! Kat817 19 Posted March 23, 2007 I flew home 5 hours in the air and another 5 in the car on day 3. I did it with minimal discomfort, and only took a dose of liquid Tylenol. Now if I had an option, I likley would have waited---but I needed to get home!!! Will you be able to stay somewhere and drive back the next day or so? Plus make allowances for extra time while driving to get out and walk around frequently. Move your feet around while sitting in the car as you are being driven. Do NOT wear knee high socks, or hose---nothing with a band tight on the leg. In fact support hose might even be a good idea. Blood clots are quite common following surgery---do what you can to prevent them. You will also need to take whatever you can drink, and keep something handy to be sipping on. Good Luck! Sula 0 Posted March 23, 2007 I had surgery on a Tuesday nite, spent that night in the hospital and got out at noon on Wednesday. Spend that day in the hotel and got on a 12 hour flight home on Thursday. I got a ride home from the airport and had to return the next day to pick up my car and I drove it the 30 miles home. The next day, my husband and I drove from Central Montana to North Dakota and back over the weekend. I did my share of driving after my three hour nap on Saturday morning as we started out. I went to work on Monday for a full day. No, I'm not crazy but maybe a bit tough! So, if you're tough, you can do it. I'm 2 1/2 months post-op and have lost 30 pounds. It is a great jouney! Good luck on yours! Shawn
snowangel 0 Posted March 23, 2007 I didnt want to push the interview back cause it looks bad, ya know. It will only be an overnight trip.. Another thing, the place we are staying, has a spa. Is it too soon to get a massage? lol!!!
Firecallie 2 Posted March 23, 2007 Yeah i wouldn't plan on being able to lay down on your stomach with the port and all. 4 days later I would have definatly been able to do an interview. However I find that surgery is quite easy for me. My gallbladder surgery I was shopping the next day. Well that day in a motorized scooter at the grocery store.
