Pepper1382 35 Posted January 19, 2014 Hi everyone! So I have a question for all those post op. When I had my abdominal ultrasound, the doctor told me I had an enlarged spleen. He told me it is usually nothing, but that because it is enlarged, the risk that they would/could hit it during surgery is increased. So he told me if it was hit badly, he would just have to remove it. I know you can live without a spleen, but I am just curious if anyone else was told that their spleen was enlarged and how your outcome was (everything was fine or it had to be removed)? I really don't want a two for one deal, just remove a large portion of the stomach please
BladeFox 235 Posted January 20, 2014 Why would your spleen be enlarged anyway? I would be concerned about that as well. I hope everything goes well during your surgery.
BestYet2Come 97 Posted January 20, 2014 I agree with BladeFox. I think you should contact your primary care physician and discuss the results of the ultrasound. Have you done any blood work for the surgery yet? I am sure it will be very telling if there is anything wrong, which hopefully is not the case! Best of luck,
Pepper1382 35 Posted January 20, 2014 The surgeon told me that some people just have larger spleens then others. He didn't seem worried at all. Just hoping they are able to keep away from it, and avoid that issue!
