Hi there. I'm a 20-something female who was sleeved on 12/24/13. I have lost 16 pounds since then. I have insulin dependent diabetes, and a host of other co-morbid issues. Before surgery, years of failed diets and weifht loss atempts, with any moderate success detrimental to my blood sugar. I have been following all the post-op recommendations *religiously*.

I am open to anyone's tips, suggestions, and so on. I know everyone is different... but what is something that you feel has propelled your weight loss? I am the type of person who can get frustrated... so I am just seeking support.

Hello :-)

As you know Protein and Water are key! I was sleeved October 7th 2013 and am three months post op as well. I am down over 85 pounds. Keep in mind men lose faster then women. I have stuck with one Protein Shake a day called VI which is a powder that is like a vanilla cake mix, mix it with two tablespoons of Peanut Butter and a glass of milk, bam over 40 grams of Protein. When you eat remember, protein first. Don't drink a half hour before or after meals. I use the most basic exercise which is a Ab Twister Pro and you can do it sitting and it minimal effort. Amazing! Men's lose fast then women, but I've given people this advice and they have been very successful. My program count two things when looking at labels, protein and sugars, anything you have keep under 10 grams of sugar. It's been a true success for me. Hope this helps you! Best of luck and please keep updating!

I agree with rensterness -- Protein and Water are key. I'm 6 weeks out, and at my latest weigh-in, I'm just under 50 pounds down. I make it a point to get in every ounce of water daily, plus I take in 85g protein daily on average. Never less than 60g, sometimes as much as 100-105g. My nutritionist says this is why I'm losing like I am, and although I don't think I'm losing spectacularly or abnormally, I don't necessarily consider myself a slow loser at this point. Similarly to rensterness, I also keep my carbs/sugars in check. I take in many more calories than other sleevers I see around here (about 850 daily), but I keep my carb count between 50-65 daily. My nut feels like my calories will drop a bit when I'm no longer on soft food and adding things to my protein to soften it. Either way, she and I are both pleased with my progress.

Hi Kwoo; June of 2013 I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. High blood pressure. High cholesterol. sleep apnea. Amongst other health issues. Put on insulin metformin 3 BP meds and cholesterol. Made the decision after a bunch of poor me's it was time to s%#t or get off the pot. After 6 months of appts times of frustration. Insurance approved. Had my sleeve on DEC 26th. Haven't taken insulin or metformin since DEC 20th. BP is great. Have next blood test mid Feb. Goal is to get off everything else. I lost 65 lbs pre-op close to 40 more post-op in just under 4 weeks. I was released back into pool 9 days ago. I do hr per day in pool until I am allowed to start lifting again. I have a long ways to go but I feel great. I am following everything as my WLS group has laid out for me. My suggestion get in pool if possible. So much easier on body joints. Etc. This is our new lease in life. The DR. Gave us the tools we need to put them to work for us. Remember to circle yourself with a great support group. All the ppl on here are behind you and will help. Good luck and God Bless!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
