Stall at 2nd week?

Recommended Posts

Okay so my first i got the surgery I lost 16 pounds I'm from 276 so 260. this week I have so far only lost a pound and I'm working out I'm getting all my Protein I'm drinking my fluids I don't understand what's wrong and my negativity isn't helping because now all I can think is it's another diet it's not to work I put my body threw hell for nothing. I have heard of people stalling after the first month for about a week but never heard of people stalling at the second week I just have a feeling this journey is going to be even longer and harder for me then normal people :(

It's perfectly normal. Don't stress. You can search and come up with hundreds of threads on this topic.

Do yourself a favor and don't get on the scale for a couple more weeks. You will thank yourself later.

Your body has just gone through major surgery. Give it time to heal.

Just remember as long as you follow your plan, the weight has no choice but to come off. It didn't go on over night and it won't come off over night. This is a marathon, not a sprint.

Hang in there! Be proud of what you have accomplished thus far!

Thank you for the encouragement it's so hard not to revert to that state of mind where you feel depressed and discouraged. I guess I was comparing myself to others I know, my friend lost 30lbs her first month, I guess I was just hoping. Glad I'm not alone though I did find the "slow losers thread"

You're not alone. We are all going though this journey together and can support one another.

And please don't compare your loss to others. You will find you come out on the short end and feel bad most times. Every person is different and you will be better served looking at only your accomplishments and not saying oh look, so and so lost this much and I only lost this much. Take the wind out of our sails and leaves us deflated at a time when we need wind.

Celebrate that you are on your way! Chin up and and all that kind of stuff! ;)

As long as you are doing everything right, the scale will start moving.

I have an extreme fear of dumping so I am following everything to a T. I've decided to put my scale away, if I am doing everything I am supposed to then the numbers on the scale are useless, the weight will come off but I need to stay positive, so no scale for me @ least until I can control the urge to step on it every five seconds lol

I forgot to tell you a positive thing about a stall. Every time the scale stopped moving the inches seemed to melt away. This happens to lots of us. It's weird and doesn't make sense but a NSV for sure!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
