nurse16 5 Posted January 18, 2014 Were you passing gas?
onedaycloser 136 Posted January 18, 2014 Not too much actually. Just remember you haven't had much really except shakes...down the road I would suggest taking a stool softener, I'm almost 7 weeks out and have had horrible Constipation (tmi sorry). Getting 65ounces of Water in on top of 65 gm Protein is my struggle!
FruitLoop 86 Posted January 18, 2014 I take a magnesium pill about every other day, helps me a lot!

lilbootch 28 Posted January 18, 2014 Mine was a little over a week also. And then it took forever to go once I got in there. Since then at almost 5 months out it is like every other day.
Kindle 8,667 Posted January 18, 2014 5 days before I went after VSG. Had neck surgery 5 years ago and it was a week before I went. Pain Meds can constipated you. Fortunately I didn't have to take any after VSG. I've had diarrhea and soft stool since surgery. Seems to be getting a little better as I progress through food stages. micphd 7 Posted January 18, 2014 I was sleeved 1/14 and went this morning for the first time. I took 45mL of milk of magnesia before bed and that did the trick. I didn't use any pain meds since the first night of surgery so that probably helped too.
McButterpants 2,846 Posted January 18, 2014 I contacted my NUT 5 days after surgery to let her know I hadn't had a bowel movement and she got concerned immediately. Even though you are on a liquid diet you should still have a BM, even a small one. She suggested taking some Metamucil and a good quality probiotic to get things moving. It worked about 90 minutes later! LOL Best of luck to you.
