I have always taught me children to not waste food. Now I do it 3x a day. I am sooooo wasteful now, the only luck I would have is when the food comes in 2oz cans. My husband said "look at all these bowls in the refridg". And yes I do use the freezer a lot, but I don't find myself interested in that particular food any longer. I try to store the majority of the food in baby food jars, but I still end up throwing them out. Any good advice! Oh yeah, I try not to let my children see me being so wasteful with food. "Moma how come you are not eating all your food"? :)

My refrigerator is where extra food goes to die! I feel bad, but there's only so long that a can of refried Beans can last in there! I have a container of Wendy's chili that will have to get tossed if I don't eat it today - I get 3 meals out of a large...by the time I get to the third meal, I'm kind of tired of it!

In all honesty, for me...that mindset is partly why I became so fat to begin with. I've been in therapy for now 9 years to get over this phobia.

Happy to report that I cook smaller portions for my husband and 2 young kids. If they complain about being hungry they've learned that they can fill up the rest of the way on veggies.

Im 3 months post op and don't eat what my family eats for dinner yet.

My sleeve allows so little to begin with so I focus on the Protein that I need and that's anywhere from 2 oz to 4 oz max.

...I don't mind the same stuff... I made mini cupcake lasagnas on Saturday and have had them for lunch each day...until I get rid of them... I guess I'm lucky that the "same ol', same ol'" doesn't bother me...

...but you have to get over the phobia of wasted food...at least for now... it is going to take awhile to adjust your cooking/eating to accommodate your sleeve; so be patient and do what you have to do to take care of YOU! :)

I am from the ...clean your plate because of all the starving children in Biafra ...generation. It IS hard for all of us here to just let it go. It's even hard to not eat the last bite of something just to prove I can do it.

My boyfriend and I have separate shelves in the fridge, now, so that I can find my necessary bits of food easily. And I do store some of my leftovers in baby food jars. My container of refried Beans has been in there five days, and I still have half of it left.

I know what yall are talking about, I'm from the clean your plate area too. I can't eat 3 or 4 bites of Protein, about 2 or 3 bites of veggies. My Dr said no potatoes anymore, I love baked potatoes with chicken faitias, salsa, sour cream and cheese on it. But those days are over, I can't even eat a can of Soup any more. After I eat it twice I don't want it any more. My poor husband, sister, and son in law get my left overs.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
