Have my surgery on the 27th of January. I am scared. I start my liquid diet today and over all I have no idea what I'm suppose to eat. I have a small list that's it. I have cried a lot because I am so scared but I don't know if that is normal. Everyone else seems so happy.

You have every right to be scared !!! You are having major surgery and most of us felt that way. After surgery your emotions are all over the place! After your body starts adjusting and all the dust settles is a piece of cake !! I think you are mourning your loss of food, kind of like the love affair is over !! You have a new, healthy you to look forward to !!!! Look at the positive things this surgery will do for you !!!!

I think it's absolutely normal to feel scared. I'm having surgery on the 29th January and I too am scared.

As for the pre op diet...what did your team tell you to have? I am on two high Protein powder shakes per day with one very light meal of lean meat and salad.

Wishing you lots of luck

Hi I'm almost 4 wks post op. The liquid things I have besides Protein Drinks are chicken broth and Crystal Light. I buy the ones to make 2qts per packet pour in 4 Dasani bottles mix then pour back into the bottles. That's my 64 oz for the day goal ready to take with me anywhere. You probably know that there are many many flavors. I like the fruity kinds.

Lots of other kinds of Water flavorers such as ProPel, too.

Hang in there!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
