The 200+ to lose group: anyone around?

Recommended Posts

I'm really curious what others are experiencing so far in their journey for this weight group. Anyone care to share?

For me, even though I am nearing 100lbs lost, there is still a long way to go and I have a hard time imagining ever being at goal. I started out at my highest being 406, and my goal is to get to 175. I find I stall every 10lbs or so. Anyone else?

Hello. I just sent you a personal message as well as commenting here. I have been stuck for one week and sitting between 274-276. It's driving me nuts! I am 4 almost 5 weeks out from surgery (Dec 17th). Dr. M from SWLS also did my surgery.

Stalls are the worst! I'm unfortunately a big time staller. I stopped for about 2 weeks when I was 10 days out of surgery, then after that one broke I lost for 3 weeks and then stalled for 5 weeks! It sucks, but at least we can be certain we will always make it through them. This surgery has definitively put the hope in me to persevere through those times.

Hello everyone. I am still preop. My surgery date is 2/24/14. So excited and a bit nervous. Started my preop diet yesterday. I am hungry but I will manage. 28 more days and then one day of Clear liquids. I am hoping to get my bmi as low as possible so that my surgery is safer. Starting it was about 61.

I started this journey back in August at 330+ pounds, I am lucky to be 5"-2" and have set my first goal weight at 160. My ideal would be to get into a normal BMI range and I think for my height it is 125-135. I don't even know if this is possible. I have pretty much struggled all my life with my weight and the past five or so years I have packed on a good 100 extra pounds. I just really want to be healthy and have be able to see my old face in the mirror. I don't like looking at myself anymore because there is a stranger in the mirror.

My brother took a picture of me early last year. I saw it and about chocked. Goodness it was bad. I knew I was a big girl but that was an eyeopener for me. It was pretty much the catalyst that has put me on this journey. For that I am thankful. You are all an inspiration to me and knowing that you have accomplished losing a substantial amount of weight it gives me hope.

I wish everyone well and great success.

At my highest I was 385lbs. I was 347 on the day of surgery (11/4/13). I was just weighed today at the docs office and weighed 295lbs. That's down 90lbs from my highest. I still have just over 100lbs to go though. Long journey ahead but I've come a long way too. :)

I started walking at the mall. I am not comfortable going to a gym yet and I don't think I can really do much but walk now anyways. I started walking for 30 minutes at a pretty slow pace. Now I am up to around 60 minutes at a bit faster pace. I have been doing this for about a month. I try to get there at least 3 days a week. I am lucky to have the mall close by. I live in Washington so it is mostly wet outside and I am not that much of a trooper.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
