Lost the momentum

Recommended Posts

Well I was banded in Oct 13 and only had one fill! I'm losing and it's fine but I'm am weir ding out about a 2nd fill. I got on here today after weeks of not logging on and I see that I could be doing better and I was more motivated coming to this site and receiving support. So back on the train I go!

remember why you wanted to be banded (or whatever WLS one has)

remember? remember that number on the scale? use that as a motivation...do not return to what you were....look at where you are now......doing GREAT.....keep doing it.....because if you do, you WILL get there....

Why buy a tool if you're not going to use it? Why put yourself through all that preparation for the big day? Like CG says remember why you wanted WLS and what you wanted to get out of it. If that is not enough to motivate you than maybe you're just plain happy where you are in life at the point in time.

Hi Fnika, glad you're here! Don't forget how important followup care is in this process. It's one of the things about the band in that first year. If you're dragging your heels about getting a fill you may be worried that you'll have to give something up. I am determined to do this without deprivation because I know how restrictive I've been in the past and how that hasn't worked for me. But what I can and do now is listen to my body. I'm surprised by what it wants and doesn't want. If there's something I'm craving, by having a good fill I can have a teeny tiny bit of it and feel completely satisfied. It's unbelievable to me, that feeling of being able to enjoy a small bite and then stop. I could never stop before. What I want is good food. If I can have that in small amounts and then wait 4-5 hours and then have good food in small amounts again.......there is no deprivation. I am not on a diet.

Don't need the lectures dad! My post was truly saying that I'm motivated because of you guys on here. I am losing because of WLS hence utilization of the tool.

This group knows how to keep everyone accountable. So thanks to all of you!

I assume this post was for me since you said dad and I am the only male who took the time to respond to you. I am sorry if you took offense to my comments as well as take it as a lecture. I was merely trying to inspire you to think back on when you started the process and why you wanted the band. I truly meant no offense and sorry if it came across this way.

I am happy you are motivated and I wish you much success.

No offense!!!!! Sometimes we need that push! I was being sarcastic especially since it's the truth! Who wants to hear the truth!!! Don't change.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
